Wheels/tyres sizes again

Hi All
When I bought my 2008 TDV8 it came with RRS wheels (9.5 inch wide style 3 I think) and 275/40/20 tyres (wrong size for mine)

The tyres always looked too small for the arches and the speedo was way over reading (87mph indicated @ 80mph on the sat nav)

MOT was last Saturday and got an advise on one tyre, as they are the wrong size I plan to change all of them, been looking around, would I be right in thinking that 275/45/20's would be a closer match to the original circumference on these rims?

If not what would be?
Thanks for the help.

That's the size I did the calculations on, but from what I have seen/read they won't fit on a 9.5 rim.
New tyres would be within 1% if the standard tyres according to this

Just found a rim calculator and the 255/50/20 will fit on the 9.5 rims!!

Guess it will be back to standard size then! 2010 L322 3.6 TDV8 Vogue Stornaway Grey

If you’re keeping the same rims then I’d be going for the wider tyre.

Alternatively you may be able to pick up some cheap wheels that are the correct size.

Or option 3 - find some L405 take offs - they are marginally taller bing a 55 rather than 50 profile, but you can often pick them up for the price of the tyres.

I’ve just done this, mine came with 275/40/20’s but I’m not keen so I’ve just picked up a lovely set of standard 20 inch rims and having 255/55/20 Grabbers fitted tomorrow.

Im currently looking at the same issue and did the size comparisons using an online calculator etc.

275/45/20 give nearly exactly the same side wall thickness and rolling radius as the original 255/50/20 tyre therefore I'll be changing to 4 x 275/45/20 when the time comes.

The ride is also much better on 275/45/20 than 275/40/20 as its nearly an inch difference in side wall height.
