Cam phasers and diesel noise in a 5.0 supercharged 2011 engi

Hi all,

Does anyone know how the cam phasers relate to excessive noise or a diesel style noise in the 5.0 supercharged?

I read that the cam phasers could be regulated in order to reduce the overall noise of the car. If you close the valves more and a little sooner, and keep them open for shorter time, you get a steady idle, good low-rpm torque.

So not sure if anyone with a good understanding of mechanics could let me please know if the cam phasers should be maybe just replaced as if they wear out they get noisier or just can be regulated by a computer-controled servo.

Thanks
