Front Brake Pads - Tools & Parts

Hello,
I might need to replace the front pads in the next 2 months. Apart from punches (which I currently own none) are there special tools I need?

I am thinking of going with these:
EBC Greenstuff 6000 Elite Truck And SUV Front Pads DP62064

Do I need to replace the wear leads at the same time?
Are there other spare parts I should replace at the same time? Should I check the 2 pins and bolts before I start?

Many Thanks SDV8 AB MY 2020

I had mine out the other day pins and fixings were fine and the sensor lead was also all okay so I did not replace them just cleaned them and greased them. Just punch, socket set and some pliers, brake cleaner. overfinch modified

This is the project next week. I am hoping the weather improves. Why is it always winter when I need to work on the RR? SDV8 AB MY 2020

A good soaking with plus gas and then a light hammer on the punch to get it moving, keep spraying it .

If all else fails cut it. but with plenty of lube I think that will move. overfinch modified

I recently had to cut the bottom ones on both sides and then the last bit came out with a long punch. letters not necessarily in the right order

70,000 km.

One side done the bottom pin finally came out.

On the other side, the bottom pin doesn’t want to move. I might need to cut it. Disks feel ok. Might look at them in the spring.

Pin on left is the one that are fitted. The one of the right is the one from LR fitting kit.

Pin on the Right looks to be the correct one to me, the smaller diameter in the centre section locates the leaf spring. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

The thicker one are the one from the factory or were on the car from new.

While looking for my cutoff tool. I have felt the disc on the driver side inside. I need new discs. Also a new wear sensor.

It seems like the inside drivers side pad is stuck. The pistons might be sticking.

So tomorrow I call the garage about the parts.

I will make a plan over night. SDV8 AB MY 2020

You will need a large torx bit to undo the calliper and a big torque wrench to do it back up. There is a good YouTube video. letters not necessarily in the right order

The calliper bolts that are tight are 21mm bolts. Once again they need a good spray and a nice long bar to remove them. overfinch modified

New discs, wear sensor & a rebuild kit ordered.

I will try with a clamp to remove the pin.
Would a blowtorch help or as the brakes I shouldn’t do it? SDV8 AB MY 2020

High risk of melting the piston seals / dust covers before the caliper releases its grip on the pin.
