Yellow Restricted Performance - but no change to the cars pe

HI all,

just got my self a 2012 TDV8 4.4 Vogue . had a bit of a drive out today and got a yellow "Restricted Performance" click OK to clear come up.
While driving nothing seemed to change car performed as expected.
Stopped at a fuel station for a rest break got back into the car and it had cleared. few miles down the Mway it came up again.
completed my journey 70 miles or so and filled up.
drove around Brighton for half hour or so nothing (Only change is the weather not rain and dry roads) started my journey home got 50 miles in hit the rain and it came up again. still no change in the performance of the care revs fine and powerful.
got home plugged my scanner in (Icarsoft LRII) the warning has gone and no codes in either module?

now i have read many threads on here could it be one of the hoses?

any tips greatly appreciated

Could be a huge amount of reasons unfortunately...
Did you get a specific error code on the icarsoft? 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

As Rob says a code is best if you can get one. Not knowing the icarsoft, I'd do what many do and invest in a GAPiiD if you intend to keep the FF.

Simplest thing that comes to mind is the fuel in water sensor, located on the bottom of the fuel filter on the nearside wing. Does what you say is happening on yours. There's a thread

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic46438.html

covering this and a fairly inexpensive repair.

When my hoses and then throttle body went the RP was exactly that, no power, but limp home. Ran for a while after switching off and then came back. Cheers

I often get this just after I fill up with diesel. Tends to happen if I refill when the warning light comes on. After a restart it goes away.

This is the thing i get the warning and no change to the cars performance at all.
when i get someplace to read the code nothing is there it just says "No Faults"
I have used the IcoarSoft for a while as i used to have a Jag XF too.
i think i will start by changing the fuel filter and see what happens.

You need a tool that can read pending and/or historic codes.
I’m pretty sure when I checked, mine was a dpf fault. Probably wanted to do a Regen but not enough fuel.

that could be it as the fuel gauge is faulty reads less than half a tank when full!!
i am sure my scan tool can read stored codes will have to look.

There is a fix for the faulty fuel reading. It's around fixing some wires in the tank....probably in the Wiki Whistle 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Could be the water in fuel sensor. I´ve had to replace mine on both my L322 and D4. Same thing, yellow RP comes on intermittently but no effect on the cars performance.

You´ll need to change the fuel filter housing but at least i comes with a new filter included...

Part no. LR072685

You can buy the 3.6 fuel filter housing and remove the sensor and wiring from the back and transplant to the 4.4 housing on the car. There is a large difference in price as the 3.6 housing is £39, where the 4.4 is £250. So if you read the codes and get a p2264 it’s a much cheaper fix.

Im currently having a similar issue where the warning triangle in yellow comes up on my TD6 with abs warning etc. No loss of performance etc and clears on restarting. Mine fault is the steering angle sensor and I have purchased a replacement one but seeing as its a pig of a job to do haven't committed to changing it yet. Interestingly the fault only occurs when the vehicle lowers after70 mph. If I lock the suspension at normal height I don't get the issue.

That code usually has no effect on the car and is a pain to replace. You have probably read Greg's thread by now...I did have mine changed at Rovertune when they swapped out my secondary turbo.

Thx Rob, yes that code won’t be it.
9 times out of 10 RP on the 4.4TDV8 = boost leak
Suggest checking Donut hoses carefully.
It maybe fuel but boost leak usually wins.
Let us know.

. Cheers, Greg

i did think boost leak and will check boost hoses.
car is going in to have the fuel gauge issue fixed next week my hunch is that DPF will not re-gen due to fuel / range showing insufficient to complete. I have been told (Though have no concreate evidence) DPF will not regen if the fuel is below 1/4 tank. so will get that resolved first and go from there.
will also check for boost leaks.

does anyone have a part no for the x4 short hoses? or do you make them up from a 70mm hose yourself?

thanks
