I have gone out again and checked the battery voltage and it’s showing 12.2 even with it being on charge all night. So it looks like the new battery isn’t up to much.

I have gone over the start process and it goes like this:
Unlock &get in
Push the start button and the dash lights up
All of the old faults show
Push the brake and push the start button
The car acts like you are turning it off and the dash goes to the engine shut off background. With the (P) light flashing red.

I have a modern booster and it did nothing. I’m probably finding out why the car was sold.

I returned the battery to Halfords, got a refund, drove to JLR and got an original. it was more expensive and the car is listed as needing the AGM. The car now starts and I'm only left with an engine light. Hopefully I can clear that tomorrow with a simple reset tool

So none of the messages displayed until I tried to drive the car. I’m hopefully going to be able to try a reset tool tomorrow. But there is something strange going on....

When I changed the battery today I left the car 1hour and also did the hard reset. Then when I started the car all of the warnings disappeared and I was left with a check engine light. When I drove the car forward it felt normal after about 25m everything lit up again steering went heavy. So I stopped.
The car has all of the lights on the doors started locking when I jumped out, the boot won’t open. The front seat will only move forward in short bursts. (I had to climb into the boot from the back seat.

I have checked all of the fuses behind the glove box, in the boot and the panel under the bonnet all continuity tested ok.

I have rung a couple of places to see if I can get it in.

I guess it’s an old car with old tech that seems very sensitive

Don't know about the other aspects but, in relation to the steering becoming heavy, did you do the lock to lock with the engine running after reconnecting the battery? John

Yep the steering was light until the errors appeared. The car also became difficult to pull forwards like the gear was hard to engage.

I’m a bit in the dark without an IID tool I guess. Let’s see what the cheap scan tool says tomorrow. I fear it’s probably something more.

Gr4h4m so sorry to hear your woes.
what fatty do you have?
sounds like a damaged or poor connection someplace i would consider an auto electrician over your regular mechanic they will have the right diagnostics to locate the issue. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

I have an l322 4.4 tdv8. I feel it could be something that isn’t an easy fix. I will try the rest tomorrow, and try and get to a specialist. That is probably be in the new year before I can get it to someone.

have you checked the rear where all the media is? i know on the early models that could fill up with water and cause all sorts of issues? worth a quick look. also check where the tow bar goes some people fit a second battery in that space make sure there is not another battery on board you do not know about. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

Try Landranger Deeside. They look after my defender but are all over Rangies too.

I have got hold of an icarsoft lrv2.0 and it is showing lost communication with the abs control module. If I try and look in the module for the fault code it can’t communicate with it, showing a link error.
I have removed the plug and the pins look clean.
There are a load of faults on the car but this appears to be the only module I can’t communicate with.
I have looked I the fuse box under the bonnet abs there are three fuses with the abs symbol these all look ok and test ok.

Anything else I can check?

Well its on its way to a local specialist, via the back of an AA van. They are going to look at it and get back to me. I have also contacted ecutesting.com to see if they can fix the unit in case it is faulty as they seem ridiculously expensive as a new part!.

I will post back the fault, also going to try an use the warranty that came with the car to see if that will help towards the cost.

So the garage think it was a bad connection to the abs module, I’m not convinced just unplugging the thing is a fix as I had already done the same. I have contacted the ecu repaire site but they haven’t seen the exact module part number before. Does anyone have any other contacts that test abs repair the abs modules?

I thought I might close this thread. The garage cant find a fault now as they have wiggled the connector on an off and the fault has gone away. If the part wasn't over £2K I would change but I have no assurance it will fix the issue. The specialist has only managed to do the same as I can on the drive.

It is true what hey say about these cars in two months is the worse car I have owned in 30 years. This is a full land rover service history single owner 70K on the clock I have done 400 miles and I have had two failures. I get its an old car but a mistake.

So after picking my toys up and putting them back in the pram I managed to find someone that will fix the LR020484 abs module. Most places have said no to it, they are trade only so I need to speak to my local place and ask them to take thw unit out a s send it off for checking/repair and then re-fit, brake bleed etc.

I will get them to change the belt and tensioner as well.

Hopefully this is the reason the car was sold and once on top might be a bit better to live with
