No fault on ours, but the MD did replace one under warranty at the last service for hairline cracks in the case which they said often leads to water ingress and then total failure including the calliper Shocked Not sure if that was just MD scaremongering though. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Handbrake failure.....

Well I’ve had the first failure.....RHS motor has failed and I can’t move the beast..... Sad

RAC have confirmed this and plan to recover the Beast on Monday onto a big yellow taxi Big Cry

I have to admit it’s the first time I’ve been recovered on a big yellow taxi......

The RAC guy did mention the housing is cracked, and this allows the elements inside .....?

I’ll see more from my Indy next week....

Fingers crossed Warranty wise play ball with my claim....?

Stephen.

Sounds like a design flaw... I did think it was an odd thing for the main dealer to inspect so closely, they must see them allot! Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Removed the failed motor 😡

Other side is probably in the same state, but hasn’t failed yet. (Both side now being replaced.)👍

Thank you. I probably have the same problem as when I drive under heavy rain the hand brake light goes on.

I had a few incidents of the parking brake refusing to lock or unlock when wet. Just fitted a new actuator today. Found a replacement on ebay for £74 (new part) which upon arriving looks identical to the the OEM item, just without dealer tax. Fitted and working fine. Will swap the other side over when it’s a little warmer as a precautionary measure.
Managed to do it with just the car in off road height and rolling around on my back but would be easier to take wheel off next time around for easier access. 2013 SDV8 4.4 Vogue SE Aintree Green

Do these actuators need coding or are they plug and play? 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

They don’t need coding. Just make sure the cable plug is fully seated when fitting the new unit. There is a small cable that clips in under the plug socket housing which can prevent the plug being fitted correctly. Ask me how I know!
It would be wise to seat the plug first then then tuck the smaller cable in place. 2013 SDV8 4.4 Vogue SE Aintree Green
