It’s just a different shaped hammer. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yep the front bearing is a total its a sealed cassette rather than a tapered roller so needs pressing out, if you can even get it off the driveshaft!

Pressing it in and out of the hub doesn’t worry me too much, it’s the splitting the shaft from the hub bit that’s got me worried.

Let’s just put it like this, Un be known to me my local garage tried to split the hub off on my 12my, to change an arm bush, don’t know why.... but in the end when they put it back together they neglected to put the hub nut back on.. I drove for 6 months like that, it was only when it went back in for something that it was noticed, and they asked me where it was!! So it’s a fairly firm fit.

Interesting video here showing bits of getting the fan shroud off the 4.4 TDV8 so it looks like my next job is in the pipeline now.

David, the diaphragms are dead easy to change and cost less than £20... Not starting (flooding in old-fashioned terms) is a common issue when the diaphragms dry out/harden and fail... |

Thanks Craig. I’ve tried before to refurbish a couple of reducers on the P38’s and they never maintained a pressure properly afterwards. These are 10 years old now so thought I’d swap them but am thinking I should probably have tried the diaphragms on these as apparently they’re much easier to do then the older ones.
