Broken coolant pipe

Does anyone know what this pipe is for and whether I can replace just the connection or if it has to be the whole unit.

It’s the top connection for this.

I think you will have to replace the whole unit.

While replacing the cross piece pipe on the radiator the connection on the other end of the small pipe you show broke. To obtain that right angle connector I had to purchase the whole of the unit you show in the WM picture. Had I had time I could have perhaps fabricated or found the connector as it's a readily available style, but a matter of finding the right size.

The end you show broken is a right angle tube with an o ring fitted which is held in place on the housing by a special clip, so I doubt it's available seperately.

But have word with Duckworths, it may be useful. Oh, and IIRC the part shown in pic2 is about £70.

HTH Cheers
Richard

It's not a bad pipe to replace as the O rings can rot, creating coolant leaks.

The part number for the replacement full unit is LR022690. Hopefully I don’t break anything else whilst fitting it.

Had to order 4 new bolts for the plenum front bracket as 3 had already sheared off, Land Rover part no HT1 for anyone that might need similar.

Yep those wee bolts are amazinglybweak. One of mine broke and had to be replaced. Luckily got it out after some mole grip action and WD40.

Yeah I had all sorts of tools to remove them. Found a ring type spanner that fitted snug over the round base, held at a slight angle was enough to loosen the bolt and then rotate with long nose pliers, the back right one is in a particularly poor area for access. Lots of profanities later and they were all out.

Once I replace the water outlet top connection. Is there any special procedure for topping up and/or bleeding coolant or is it a case of just keep an eye on the expansion tank level and keep topping up as required. Any special coolant required or just the standard one in the specs but any brand? I have the pink coolant in mine. Thanks in advance.
