What kind of costs should I be looking at please? I have been quoted £400 from a Specialist

Sounds OK-ish to me. I just did my 60,000 mile (62,000) service few weeks ago with the Thatched Garage Land Rover outfit near Lewes and that was around the same price. My bill was a £100 more, as I'd asked for a diagnostics test, to clear some alerts codes that keep popping up, and they didn't clear them, or say anything other than I was driving the beastie a bit too slow, and should clear it out on faster runs.
They did a good vehicle check over also - I hope!
Their newish front counter guy also tried the old "You need to run for 40-minutes to re-charge the battery just for starting one of these!" which I'm sure is a myth...

The garage I took it to for MOT (RAC Approved) said my FF needed to go to Range Rover as there were too many fault codes that they could not deal with or had or something along those lines...

Did the forum arrive at any particular diagnostics tool plug-in? I know a few have been talked about. Although I paid for the LR/RR '''specialists''' a week or so ago to clear my three codes that have been a regular showpiece for two years now, they did not clear them. And they said they had all the main-dealer space/warp time/travel diagnostics gear imaginable...

Looks that way - although if LR diagnostics can't clear codes how does the plug-in achieve it?

Just get yourself a GAP IID Bluetooth from Island 4x4 or Bell Auto Services. It will pay for itself in no time.
I bet one of the codes that keeps coming back is P040D which is a duff EGT sensor on passenger side. Let's see if I'm right.

You mention that you have 3 codes that won't clear, did you get any details of these?
As so many others have said before, grab yourself an IID Tool, expensive initially but they hold their value should ever decide to sell your FFRR and opt not to own another Land Rover product. Everytime you use it you're effectively saving money which means it will pay for itself after just a few uses. (Oh, and you don't have to use it only when a fault pops up, many use them for things such as a service reset, checking live data, changing configuration files, etc) 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

Yes the IID looks to be a must, maybe for TeeMyob AND myself. A few examples have been added here, with thanks.
My personal three repeated code/s alerts are:
1/ Emergency brake assist not available...
2/ HDC not available system fault...
3/ Stability control not available - drive with care...
Had three checks on these alerts (regular over 2 years and now nearly every drive so I simply OK them) and the mechanical items involved in these code alerts are AOK it seems...
Will certainly look into the IID units though...

Yeah just mentioned to DrRob my codes, and they have been checked but on-going, and mechanical relationship parts to these alerts are AOK it seems...
1/ Emergency brake assist not available...
2/ HDC not available system fault...
3/ Stability control not available - drive with care...

Thanks for the replies.

I do have a Creader LAUNCH CRP123 OBD2 Scanner OBD2 Code Reader Engine/ABS/SRS/Transmission Automotive Code Reader Diagnostic Scan Tool

But I am not sure if its any use for the LR

I have had another quote from Guy Salmon Range Rover STOCKPORT £660 for major service and £418 for interim.

The main dealer prices tend to be around the prices you mention. Harwoods quoted me around £750 for the same service I had my local LR '''specialists''' do for £400, yet when speaking after paying for the service they said a full service was around £750, which confused me, as I had booked my beastie in for a FULL service when they quoted me around £400.. Confused It seems that the basic or interim service involves mainly the oil and oil filter changes, with maybe a pollen or cabin filter (which looks around the easiest of things to do yourself - just un-clip and clip up again after replace and it's right under your wipers) and maybe they'll check the tyre pressures. A lot of money for mostly an oil change but there is a lot of it. Half way through the service year I get someone I know and trust to change oil and filter right before my very eyes - as I personally don't trust that all outlets actually change your oil... I prefer changing the oil twice a year anyhows - in any of our vehicles... Even the misses' wee retro Fiat 500...
Those pieces of kit sound AOK - hope they work on your big beastie! I'm looking on bay of e currently for second hand IID that was suggested recently.
