L405 smoke occasionally on hard acceleration

Hi all, just new on here.

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this subject for me. I have an 2018 L405 4.4sdv8. I’ve not long bought the car off a neighbour that mostly used it for tootling around. After a few days of gentle normal driving when I give it a boot full up to the redline I get a plume of blue smoke, although after repeating that a couple times it runs clear doing the same hard driving. Just wondering if it is an indication of something requiring attention? I understand the second turbo doesn't kick in till near 3000rpm. I'm fairly competent with the spanners but not really worked on many newer vehicles.

I've had a few land rovers over the years mostly discoverys, the last being a D4, but i have to say the comfort of the l405 is amazing.

Thanks in advance for any help

Welcome!

I'm no expert but if its only been used for short trips, it could be a build up of oil soot etc it might need a few decent trips to give it a clean out and let the DPF perform a regen, fairly sure the DPF should stop any 'smoke' coming out the tail pipes are they sooted up? (my 2018 4.4 are clean) has the DPF been 'deleted'? do you have a GAP or similar to read the codes?
im sure someone with more knowledge on the subject will be along soon Thumbs Up 1972 Series 3 full of character

Probably just a build up of excess oil in the secondary turbo and inter cooler and should burn off after a few good drag strip starts. I would suggest you also check when it was last serviced and make sure the oil level is not over full before you go ahead with the thrashing.
