In my experience it’s lease new or buy nearly new as there are quite large financial incentives to leasing a new car (we are talking PCP here btw, but I treat it like a lease on the expectation that I’d hand the keys back and walk away at the end). Buying nearly new is also an option as a cost per month of a 12 month old car can be broadly the same if you intend to change every 36 - 48 months.

If it turns out to be a perennial fault / problem I’d request a replacement car and they would have to oblige (noting that it’s actually their car unless I choose to buy it off them at the end of the agreement) | ||

Even if a car is warrantied, most wouldn’t want to spend an undue amount of time to and fro a main dealer trying to have recurring issues fettled.
