I'll confirm that. Feel pretty welcome on this site but when it comes to the subaru some forums are not quite so welcoming. Facebook is the main killer of groups tho

I second that emotion.

It stands when meeting face to face too. I attended my local meet of a well known RR club a couple of years ago. Not the most welcoming but I thought hey give it another go next month - well I felt like the naughty boy who nobody wanted to talk to.

Wont bother again.

Clubs especially are crying out for new blood yet some members (not all by any means) believe its their baby. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Totally agree, also on specialist forums like this you don’t tend to get the trolls like on pistonheads!

Have to say have felt very welcome despite the probable old questions asked by someone new!

This is definitely the most friendly, helpful forum I have ever experienced, with lots of patience and decorum plus some clever wit and repartee from very knowledgeable people.

Which brings to mind the quote from Groucho Marx - 'I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member' Laughing
I fear I lowered the tone when I joined. Whistle Rolling with laughter

A lot of clubs are just a small circle of social friends that have a few tag alongs roll with them. A few subaru groups done the same. You could rock up with a bog standard impreza and no one would bat an eye lid at you, turn up for a few more meets and no one still looks.

Week after roll up in a 600bhp impreza and the owners and vetrans will stand there with a tissue in one hand n the other hand on the inside of their trousers

Have to agree with you sir... I think we're all lucky to have behind the scenes staff like Stan & Martin keeping an eye on things... I think the best of these forums always look like they run without too much work or effort... Nothing could be further from reality though... WELL DONE guys... Bow down Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up

Went to a online Porsche club zoom call once , what an awkward experience that was , very elitist, their forums are like the Marie Celeste, safe to say I didn’t renew membership. Tried a fb range rover group , deary me , left that I short order. Hats off , the knowledge base in here is exceptional to be fair. Just search your topic first Rolling with laughter

Rolling with laughter

The only 2 questions that I do notice come up quite often with those initially wanting to build their RR knowledge are... I was cleaning my car and I saw this switch.... 🤣 That enables transport mode and should be disabled on delivery..... and the... where should this pipe go?..... it doesn’t go anywhere, it’s a breather....

Perfectly valid questions..... though makes me laugh now, but that is what the forums are for.... finding stuff out from knowledgeable peeps who have been there, done it, or broke it before you did 🤣.

Best part of this site seems to be the attitude to new members with FFRR problems............

What!!.... you bought a FFRR....that's brave Whistle ..... do you realise what you have let yourself in for..........then proceed to...... Welcome the latest victim with open arms and offer plenty of support and useful advice. Thumbs Up

Being a member on here is akin to being a member of a mental health support group, as we have all caught a bug that most people ( Sheep ) avoid like the plague Thumbs Up
