Who is running a "high mileage" 4.2 Supercharged

Keen to hear from high mileage 4.2 S/C owners - looking at adverts these things seem to go on for ever. Any particularly expensive faults that crop up at they go past 150k? Thanks

Mine is on 230k. Gearbox has been refurbed before, pulleys and tensioners and viscous fan all replaced. Engine internals seem solid enough. Supercharger bearings need to be replaced and the isolator as the miles creep up.

To be honest the biggest thing to look out for is rear wheel arch and sill rust - that can be expensive to sort!

Hi
Mine has done 150600miles.
Running perfect and smooth , knock knock on wood. Bow down
Only normal maintenance except for the SC bearings.
Done that a few weeks ago.

Mine is now on 170,000 miles & has been very reliable so far 🤞 as long as you keep on top of maintenance & rear arch bubbling. I can’t find anything to replace her, so will keep her as long as possible, I would say she’s probably good for 300,000 with proper preventative maintenance, so go for it Thumbs Up

Just topping 220k (its been a light couple of years mileage wise) I have run it for 8 years bought it with 60k on the clock
All working as it should and I drive hard often long runs into Europe.
I change the oil and filter every 10 k and change the fluid in the gearbox and diffs every 30k its worked so far
I have changed all bullies and tensioners as well also front air bags shocks all round and all bushes were done at about 180k but that is more a personal thing with me.
I still use mine daily in fact of to
France again and will do upwards of 2k on the trip and not concerned about reliability.
Mine was also chipped and had the supercharger pullies replaced by previous owner . It is quick enough Thumbs Up

The only thing I would say is mine is high mileage but I have put the miles on it so know how it has been serviced although doubt if the others are driven any harder Thumbs Up

Interesting thread chaps!

Would you say that the supercharged is more reliable than the tdv8? I’ve heard that a number of times…

And the classic question.. around town and on small runs, what mpg are getting??

Many thanks!

Interestingly enough I never use the the onboard comp normally but reset no 2 before my run over to France last week and it showed 21.6 mpg over 1300 odd miles the other is on 15.6 and has never been reset by me so that will be over just on 160k miles To be fair I just fill it up with 98 and off I go.

Landygee, throughout the years you hear a lot more about issues with the TDV8 (3.6), whether that is because there is more of them who knows, but it's down to preventative maintenance IMHO, SC do however seem to be more reliable,

Sunny East Ayrshire here also Thumbs Up
