Rotary gear selector not popping up.

Hi Guys,

My 2015 L405 gear selector will not pop up. Without it popping up I can turn to neutral and reverse but not to drive. I can hear a solenoid operating or trying to every time I press the brake pedal.

Searching on line sounds like there are other Land Rover models with rotary gear selectors with similar types of problems.

Is there a common fix for this?

Thanks Paul 2015 AB 5.0 Supercharged

Mine was replaced under warranty when it stopped moving freely, and squeaking, so maybe replacing the unit is "the fix"? Only Range Rovers since 1988

sounds like the solenoid is failing..you will probably need a new rotary gear selector module.. ... - .- -.

Okay it’s arrived from UK to Perth Western Australia, takes four days to get here sits at airport arrivals for another four days.
Amazing. if we order anything from the eastern states of Australia can take two weeks.

Anyone know what’s involved for replacement?, so far researching looks like I need to remove the entire console 2015 AB 5.0 Supercharged

When mine was replaced the console was removed. Be careful not to scratch the lower glovebox leather in the process. My dealer did that, confessed and replaced it too. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thanks

Just replaced mine over the weekend, purchased from island 4 x 4. Had to remove the Centre console cover, taking my time the job took six hours. Online there’s a video on how to remove the 2019 L405 console but it is slightly different to my 2015 main difference was 2015 has 2 screws plus clipped down and arm rest has a long pin. 2019 6 screws plus armrest screwed down.
If I was to do it again I reckon I can do in two hours.
Apparently there’s also an update for software that helps fix this issue. However I didn’t wanna mess around and be caught somewhere I have to leave the car. So I just replaced it.
When it was faulty, I could hear a solenoid trying to activate in the rotator unit every time I press the brake pedal but it would not release, it worked after day or two later however wasn’t willing to take the risk going forward. 2015 AB 5.0 Supercharged
