Changing Front Shock Absorbers

I’m not really sure where to put this… It’s just a note that might help people prepare to change their front struts.

The clip on the front shock absorber that holds the ABS sensor cable is no longer available from Land Rover unfortunately. Rob @ Duckworths confirmed this last week when I tried to order a pair for my car.

When I removed the old struts from the car I gently tried to remove them from the struts. I tried the heat gun to soften the plastic slightly but they were hard and brittle and they snapped with little to no force.

I measured the hole in the struts and it was between 6 and 6.5mm.

I ordered a packet of these clips from eBay:

They are a great tight fit in the holes in the struts and zip up nice and snuggly on the abs sensor cable.

When I’m doing a job I like to make sure I’ve got everything I’ll need so hopefully someone will benefit from this Smile
