Don't connect directly to the battery. You'll be bypassing the BMS so it won't account for the charge being applied to the battery. Kev

Do you have the deployable tow bar? If so then I'd second MJDronfield and advise using that with a connector from the site shop and the CTEK 5. That's what I do and it works well. Advantages include: not having to get at the battery or terminals which are quite well hidden away; regularly exercising the tow bar mechanism which is liable to stick if ignored for months/years on end; and all cabling external to the car so no seal strip deformation.

Unfortunately the tow bar adapters aren’t available from the site shop anymore due to component shortages. 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

Thanks caymanblack, I'm glad you like it. I understand my colour choice is not to everyones taste and that more black accents are popular nowadays, but I think it looks quite simple, clean and elegant.

Thank you knwatkins, I was going to insert below the top nut as per the video below at 4.32 - Will it be OK if I do it that way and leave the connector on at all times:

I’ve not used my Ctek, even throughout the lockdowns, since I bought an Optimax Solar charger. The original reason for a solar charger was because I often leave the RR at the airport for a month. It also saves faffing about connecting the Ctek up to the mains.

I connect mine directly to the main battery in the boot using the same connector as above. Then run a wire between/under the rear seat/carpet then down the side of the passenger seat, popping the panel on the dash when required. It’s easy to unplug the panel from the side of the passenger seat and pop it in the boot when not required. Or if it’s just me driving then I drop it in the passenger footwell.

Unlike other solar panels the Optimate regulates the current a bit like a Ctek to meet the needs of the battery.

I use the 10W version but this 20W would probably be better:

I have connected my Ctek and solar charger to the battery for years on several 405’s with no issue. MY23 D350 HSE

Thanks Phil - That's interesting, sounds particularly good for airport parking.

I returned to my old L322 at Gatwick early one December morning after a long haul flight home, only to find that the battery was flat. What then followed was a long cold wait for the AA, not something I want to repeat, so will definitely look into that.

Does the CTEK comfort connector still fit under the battery nuts in the same way with both chargers?

I use the same battery connector as above for both the Cteck and Optimate. Although you may need an extension lead if you run the lead for the solar panel through to the front windscreen. MY23 D350 HSE

Either 5A or 10A CTEK work fine on my twin battery Westie.
The NOCO GB150 I bought before fitting the twin layout is now kept in the boot just in case,
