Which of these brands of brake pads to buy?

Going to buy some new front pads from Advance Factors.

They sell: Ferrodo, Meyle, Borg & Beck, Terrafirma and TRW.

Which are the best for my S/C?

Cheers all.

Got Brembo marked discs and pads (front and rear) from AF a few years ago. Still performing well. Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
Galaxy 2001-2007
Mondeo Estate 1997-2001
Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993
Fiesta 1984 - 1987
Fiat 127 1982 - 1984

I have tried them all over the years and really the only ones to buy are genuine pads and discs they perform the best and dont squeal squeak or grind

I use Borg & Beck with no issues. Used them on my RRC, D1, P38A, and the L322. Ron B. VK2OTC

It depends a bit on which one in the range of the brand as well. But out of that lot I would choose Ferrodo as my first choice. I've got them on my S/C actually. Very good, silent, brake well, and don't provide much dust.

Are you keeping the disks and just replacing the pads? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Well, initially I thought just new pads (I have had a very expensive month), but should I do both?

Discs are not too bad, only a small edge and not wobble or anything like that.

The only after market disks/pads that I've ever been impressed with have been EBC, not cheap but work well and last well

Not in my world. Pads when needed and discs when needed. Always both sides but pads wear quicker than discs

Pad and disk wear rates vary depending on the setup and the pad compound. Putting new pads on worn disks means a long bedding in period in which uneven heating can occur as only parts of the pads are touching the disks at first. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

@goldstar - you might have fired up a debate here Laughing
I'm sure that used to be the case when pads lasted 5 mins and disks seemed to last forever but I'm pretty sure that since the demise of asbestos as a friction material we have pads that last as long as disks and I find a good quality set can last for 40K miles by which time the disks are past their best.

If discs need changing I change pads as well. But if only pads need changing I only change pads. I’m normally running at like 2-3 sets of pads to a set of discs.

Mine came with very worn disks and new pads. Really should get the disks changed soon before the pads wear through to the venting voids in the casting. I always used to do my own disk and pad changes and know how to do it on various systems but these days I'm happy to let a garage do it. Once it's up on the lift a good mechanic can change a whole set of disks and pads in way less time than I can do it with a jack and crouching down inside the wheel arch so the savings on DIY is just not worth it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Bought EBC Greenstuff 4x4 brake pads all round after much research and forum recs.

Never had any brake squeal, little brake dust and excellent long term performance. Still going strong and would/ will buy the same again for our TDv6:
