Someone who has given up with life, driving that wretched old piece of toss.

I don't advocate damage to people's cars, but I've heard quite a good tactic is to get a tyre valve removal tool from the likes of ebay, and take out two valves. Whistle

Hence why I put the removable tow hitch on its very good at "pushing unwanted visitors away Smile

To be honest I was thinking of doing that in future as the plastic on the bumper gets more brittle as they age.

Not had an issue with the FFs but I was ticketed in the noughties when I had an F150 Harley Anniversary truck. Put it on a meter in London one end of the car and all wheels in the space, but the other end quite a bit over. It was (deliberately) the end space so not stopping use of the other parking bays, but of course that meant overhang onto yellow lines. When I asked, was told the obvious that if it doesn't fit in the bay you cant park there. Mike - MPx

The longer I have my rangie, the more I want to fit a tow hook for nothing more then this reason- the number of times I’ve come back to my car to find another car behind buried in the backside of mine for no reason, especially when they have gone so far forward in their space and there’s loads of room behind theirs, why they do it is a mystery 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE

Ticketting is big business for starters. Peeps have been suffering weirder penalties this past few years in particular. Saw a couple weeks ago the details about one guy getting slapped with a ticket and all that was over the 'line' was the shadow created by his vehicle. He even took a timed picture. The department would not let up until his lawyer got in touch with them - and then they got all floppy in that department, and blamed some benign oversight for the error and corrected this. I saw another oddball, but did not follow through to check up, where a vehicle on a tow-truck 'looked' as though it might be in an adjacent bus lane, but clearly wasn't - it was on a tow truck - but only looked like it was in a bus lane.
My lawyer tells me about these more bizarre events/fines (she is distant family) as she has had to recruit more bods at her chambers at Inn's of Courts London to deal with them...
Crazy world we have been given of late - and it ain't finished yet.
Welcome to the loony bin...

I agree with you that the guy parked behind was a muppet, interesting if the air suspension had dropped down. In terms of the line you were beyond the line by a fair bit rather than just on it.

Just had a parking fine issued by Liverpool City Councils lowlife private parking company which arrived with the correct reg but wrong make of vehicle. Was able to go on line and make a denial to the offence ( wasn't anywhere near the city centre that week ).

They had included pictures of the offence in the appeal section...vehicle type matched that on the ticket. It had the reg P111 XXX where as my vehicle has the reg P11 XXX and reg was clearly able to be read. Don't they check on DVLA ?

Took them 7 weeks to agree that it was not me but reply was very much along the lines of...maybe not this time so reluctantly you get off scot free.

I used to work offshore and my flights every 3 weeks or so brought me back into Humberside Airport. My wife used to wait outside the airport, once I was coming out of the terminal building I phoned her to pick me up. Just outside the terminal building there is a layby type bus stop, no buses in sight I was picked up there. Parking Eye and their camera operator filmed me, vehicle stopped, case dropped in the boot, me climbing in and off we went, 12 seconds from stopping to moving off. Invoice through the post for £100 discounted 50% if paid within 14 days.
I wrote to Humberside airport to appeal this ticket and got a snottogram back from their commercial director saying tough and pay up.
I researched the regulations with regard to signage and none of it conformed at the airport, nor was their red lines painted as per security red area markings regulations. I explained all this at length with diagrams and photographs, still no joy from the commercial director.
I appealed to Parking Eye, no joy so then it was off to POPLA armed with an incorrect 'Genuine Pre Estimate Of Loss' from Parking Eye.
The signage, the markings and the Pre Estimate of Loss were all wrong and non compliant. POPLA upheld my appeal and my invoice was cancelled.
I didn't feel this should the end of it though so I invoiced Humberside Airport for 10 hours of my time at £40 per hour. I was generous though and discounted it 50% if settled within 14 days. I had an irate call from the commercial director at the time asking me if this was some sort of sick joke, I suggested he tried my and see if we end up in court. They settled with vouchers for the departures café to the value of £200.
Lots of good advice on Martin Lewis forum on parking charges. BMW i3 Electric Car

Just a thought but how do you stand with the law if you purchase 2 tickets then straddle the dividing line of two bays? If you have two purchase tickets on display it must be legal…..right?
