TDV8 Idling Rough

Hi guys , I was wondering if anyone may have any idea what's wrong with my car. Going back a few months the EML came on and it was diagnosed as being a faulty EGR Valve. The guy who was doing the work wasn't sure which side it was , so gave both valves a clean out and all was well for a few months. Over the last couple of weeks however I've noticed sometimes it is sounding really rough when idling as if it's only running on one bank of cylinders and the whole car judders. When it is revved up it seems to clear itself. This problem seems to be occuring more regularly and I was wondering if it could be linked to the suspect EGR Vavle? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Could it be a faulty MAF?

Hi , thanks for getting back to me . I took the car back to the garage yesterday and got it plugged back onto the computer. The only fault that is coming up is the EGR valve.Looks like I will have to get it booked in next week to try to get to the bottom of it. Cheers.

TDV8 rough idle is a known issue by Land Rover, it has taken me nearly two years to fix the issue with several visits to dealer. Finally a software fix was developed and should have corrected the problem. Make sure your dealer down loads the update and installs it for you. 2018 Range Rover Autobiography

TDV8: ROUGH IDLING

I have spoken to my local agents and they are adamant that they have the latest software downloaded and installed on the car. They have also replaced the engine mountings. In my particular case, the rough idle is only when the car is in 'Drive' and I am holding it stationary with the brakes. In 'Park' it idles perfectly smoothly. Any ideas?? Cheers

*Kick*

When I google several people seem to have a TDv8 idling rough, but no real answers / solutions are given.

My car idles very roughly + it goes in safe mode every now and then. We read the OBD and it gives faults on rail pressure and fuel pressure...???

Any ideas, before I take it to the dealer. '17 Range Rover 5.0 Supercharged AB (Sold)

rough idle under load would indicate injector problem

did they check injector readings

You kind of answered your question Yourself

would advise to take a look at h/p sensor but its quite difficult to access so
dealer time

Shocked

a clean out ?

you need to diagnose the fault and replace faulty part
cleaning is not going to fix an EGR in tdv8

yes, we did check injector readings, but ofcourse the car ran fine when we were reading... All injector values seemed fine at that moment. '17 Range Rover 5.0 Supercharged AB (Sold)

I'm not fond of random replacing stuff and hope the problem goes away. It gives both faults on rail pressure sensor and fuel pressure sensor (I believe fault code 089 and 190), so the car just doesnt get enough fuel every now and then. I don't think the sensors are faulty...

Problem is the car can drive for 100 km without any problems. I'd rather just see it stopping completely, that would make fixing a lot easier. '17 Range Rover 5.0 Supercharged AB (Sold)
