Adaptive headlights / cornering lights not working.

Hi everyone,

I am a fairly new Range Rover owner. (2005 4.2 SC UK RHD). I have several faults I need to work through so starting with the lighting.
I have adaptive headlights and cornering lights but none of them operate. The dash warning light comes on as a check and goes out as it should. There is no dance on startup. The 'ecu' on each headlight has clean connectors but I don't know how to check anymore than that. The ecu in the passenger footwell is also free of damp/corrosion. The cornering light bulbs have been checked and are OK.

Any advice what to do next appreciated.

Cheers

Hi,
I had that problem on my VX70. A level sensor was broken.
Just a thought
Cheers

I seem to remember way back when that factory ran out of ECU's so simply didn't fit them in thousands of models of a close age to yours sir...

Does your heated steering wheel work? Odd question but the heated steering wheel and adaptive headlights are powered by the same relay. If the heated steering wheel works then the module is likely to be getting power and it would hint at a dodgy module or somethibg downstream of that. Have you got a code reader and the AFS system does produce fault codes?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

The heated steering wheel does work. I have unplugged the afs module to check for corrosion and the dash warning comes on and goes out when plugged back in. I have no fault codes relating to afs. I have been assuming a faulty module would put the light on the dash but who knows??

I think I may have to start replacing parts. Although other than the afs module and headlights I don't know what else I could change.

I'm going to order a module on eBay and will report back.

Cheers

Hi Kezbo,

Thank you, that is an awesome offer. Unfortunately for me I have just bought one on eBay though Sad

If no joy I guess the next step is headlights.

Cheers

Hi Stan,

Well now I'm not sure!!

I have never had them before so I would like to give them a try if possible. Also I do like things to work whether I need them or not. Smile

Fitted the replacement module yesterday evening. The lights did a dance on start up which they haven't done in my ownership. Thought this was a good start but the dash warning light flashed continuously and on a short test drive i didn't notice any difference.

On the next restart the warning light stayed off and the cornering lights are now working. I haven't noticed the dipped beam moving but only did a short low speed test drive.

Happy with that anyway.

Hi

Sorry to pull up an old post, I’ve just bought an ‘06 Vogue from a family friend knowing the heater steering wheel and adaptive light warning is flashing consistently, can you advise any further on this? Thanks in advance
