Windscreen replacement and interchangeability

Is it correct that between 2002 and 2007 windscreens are interchangeable, but the 2007 windscreen is a better option due to addition of an acoustic layer?

Mine is in need of replacement before the MOT due to a star shaped chip in the drivers line of sight and a strange blister on the glass. It’s currently an original Pilkington screen with a green tint, heated element and the blue shade strip across the top. Is it a simple job to get either an exact replacement or an equivalent 2007 one? L322 TD6 2003

I had my 2004 screen replaced by Autoglass with an original pilkington screen without even asking. The screen is exactly as previously fitted, green tint with blue tinted band across to top and heated element. Fitted including new A post covers without issue. Thumbs Up

Last year my windscreen was also replaced with a genuine Land Rover/Pilkington screen by Autoglass (via Direct Line).
I have a 2007 Vogue SE.

Thanks both, will call the insurance company next week…..would’ve been this week but SWMBOs Infiniti FX gained a 2 inch star crack yesterday, and Autoglass are searching for a new windscreen! L322 TD6 2003

I don’t think they are interchangeable. Mine was replaced with a later one and i noticed the “aperture” for the light sensor in the rain sensor was not located in the right position for the BMW rain sensor. It was covered by the black mask. I had to get my Dremel out and remove some of the mask.

When I get home I’ll look up my previous post on this (I’m on my phone at the moment). Ron B. VK2OTC

Autoglass are fine but go to their local centre if possible they did one on my drive and it was a bit of a mess and had to have it redone - they were fine about it but it was inconvenient. I have had 4 from them and all turned out ok and as said make sure they bring new trims Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
