Australia 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
Would you use these parts on your transmission?

My TDV8 3.6 is running well and the only very small niggle is very rarely I get a harsh 2 to one change and a slight flare 4th to 5th. Most of the time all is smooth. I am getting bits together to change the mechatronic sleeves and seal with a fluid and filter change as after a lot of reading these seem to be a service item. The Car has done 135000 miles so I thought as the mechatronic body was going to be out, I would change the mechatronic solenoids or at least remove and clean them.
I found a set of Solenoids on Amazon clearance listed as new replacements at a good price, in the right colours, so ordered then. They arrived and are obviously not new. The seller stated they are remanufactured but after I complained the description was wrong they quickly gave a full refund and no need to return. The Solenoids came sealed and on inspection are spotless, with new o rings, I have tested the resistance and all are the correct spec.
Has anyone used remanufactured solenoids, I only found one short video showing testing and cleaning demagnetising etc which looked good.
They are now free https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3ZlLf5vkSQ 2007 TDV8 VSE

In answer to my question DONT TRUST THESE "recon" solenoids.
I did the fluid and mechatronic sleeve change yesterday and decided to take a punt on these free to me recon solenoids. I was going to do a double drain anyway so I thought there was nothing to lose. Thankfully I did a road test before the second fluid drop and the gear changes were horrendous. banging into gear, flaring, limited gears warnings. Put the old ones back today in the original sequence, with 2nd lot of fluid and instant butter-smooth changes. Maybe I needed to do something with the adaptations, I tried the road sequence a dozen times with no change. Lesson learnt thankfully with no cost apart from a couple of hours of my time. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Not sure I have the confidence to fiddle with an auto box as they are horrendously complicated. Christian.

Quite a straightforward process, now my box has new fluid and filter, the 4 tube seals a bridge seal and elec connector seal. So far with limited road use the random issues of 2 to 1 hard shift and a slight flair 4th to 5th are gone.

Things like dropping the valve block to change the bridge adapter and the 4 sleeves, or replacing the solenoids is pretty straight forward. If you need to, don't be put off doing that.

Personally, I'd not really want to go in much further though.

Having done it twice ( once in reverse ) I would need a lot of info and reassurance before changing the Solenoids again. The Sleeve and bridge seals are easy enough. Maybe a ZF expert might elaborate on the Solenoid adaptation, is this doable? Also, Torx sizes go 27, 30, and 40. I am convinced ZF have their own size32? to make things problematic for DIYers 2007 TDV8 VSE
