Another Range Rover Newbi - 2010 3.6

Hello YALL Smile

Has always been a dream to buy a Range Rover and as my Merc was in the shop getting serviced and repaired, I needed a vehicle to go to work, as i ve been looking at a lot of ads recently I missed out on a 2011 4.4 Vogue so I found a 3.6 2010 Vogue model and pulled the trigger, managed to haggle 500 quid off it but probably still paid too much lol

I paid for it sight unseen as I was in a rush to have a car, went and picked it up that same day in Halifax, drove it back and used it to commute to work, what a TANK to drive on the motorways. love it.

Only Issue that I didnt realise and didnt even think off was that it comes with deployable side steps, no wonder it was difficult getting in lol, it was only after 2 days that i realised it had side steps WTF lol

I read the manual and tried to push the button for the side steps and it still doesnt work, I msged the dealer and he ignored my txt.

Will have to take it to a garage to check if maybe the fuse is dead or the motor. Oh well.

I still love my weekend tank. Ordered some window wind protectors from ebay for rainy days.

Any good and not rip off garages to get my RR checked out in Manchester Area.

Hey chuckster welcome to the mad house. Enjoy your new fatty I'm sure you will just love every minute of it, except of course when you need to remortgage to cover repair bills. But that aside, hope you have a full extensive service history with it and it's been well looked after and shouldn't see any major problems developing. Lots of info and knowledgeable guys on here that will help you should you need any help.

Now how about some pics of you fatty we all like to see newbies cars.

The wind deflectors, hope you bought the 6 piece kit from autoclover, they look so much better than the 4 piece kit. Have a look at this link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283684814865?mk...media=COPY
I have then on mine and set it off just beautifully.

As for the side steps, they could be just disconnected, or like you say a fuse gone. I fitted some to mine and didn't need to fuse it but can't remember what number fuse it's already on. Hopefully it's the not the motors (1 on each side) as they are £290 each to replace and absolute bitch to replace. Some members will be along with more advice.

I'd be blanking the 2 egrs on a 3.6 then a remap. Also change all transmission fluids. Bodsy can do the lot on your drive. Highly recommend him. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Hey Barmybrummie, cheers for the welcome, the wind deflectors that you linked is exactly what I ordered already on 22nd lol should be delivered in a few days time.

Hopefully the side step issues wont be a costly fix, fingers crossed.

Cheers DrRob for the recommendation, the dealer changed the engine oil only as its stamped in by another garage so I've already thinking of getting the transmission fluilds changed to prevent gearbox failure, dont want that happening too soon, only bought the Censored less than a week Laughing

Any idea what cost range it will cost to do the blanking and transmission oil change??

Welcome along Smile

That’s a nice looking RR you’ve got there.

Hopefully it’s something simple on your side steps as they’re a great feature when working.

Nice looking fatty there chuckster. You gonna need to keep on top of it with the paintwork being black.

Here's a link to an egr blanking kit https://www.egr-delete.co.uk/product/landrover_tdv8/

It's well worth doing and can do it yourself in 40 minutes. There's a good how to on YouTube just search nutjob egr blank. i did mine myself following his guide, then i had a Quatum remap done. Once they are blanked off, it maybe worthwhile giving the MAP and MAF sensors a good clean. A quick squirt with carb cleaner, jobs a good'n. I did mine just over a year ago and they was caked in oil but since blanking the egrs off they have stayed clean ever since.
Good to see you also have the climate seats, once you have used them in this hot weather keeping your back and arse cool you'll never want to be without them Very Happy
