FBH Questions - 2011 4.4 TDV8 - Remote Not Pairing

A job I have finally got round to doing! The previous owner had the fuel pump for the FBH disconnected and bridged 'because it was causing problems'.

This evening, I've fitted the new pump (old one was rusted as hell) and re-instated the hoses, plus run the fuel priming procedure with the IID (succeeded) and the check operation procedure (succeeded). Also acrylic coated it, to help prevent corrosion.

However, it would be good to physically see it working, especially if it's been disconnected for a while. Is there a way to force run it for testing purposes? I understand if the ambient temperature is above 16C, it will not run.

Also, does anyone have the remote programming procedure, as when I press 'on' on the remote, I get the red light flash indicating the signal was not received. Does it do this if above 16?

Finally, does anyone know which fuse it is on the 2011, as it's not listed on either fuse panel OR in the owner's manual? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Off the top of my head, I can't remember the fuse number....but, if you search under FBH there's loads of info on there about it.
I think 1/4 tank diesel is a must & a minimum temperature is needed for the FBH to work....again, I can't remember the figures.........not much good am I! Laughing 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Hi Garry
The temperature has to be 5C or below to kick in and will cut off after 30 minutes. You can set up on and off times on the also on settings also. Its a bit warm at the moment. Laughing

For testing, either use the Webasto software and a suitable jumper harness or disconnect the external temperature sensor, the default value is -40deg. C.

Thanks!

I hate removing the door cards so, given both procedures ran correctly with the IID tool, I'll see if we get a cool evening between now and September if 16C is all that's needed, then I'll think about removing the door card if I can't test before the long cold winter sets in.

Anyone know the fuse? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

So, the temperature dropped below 16 degrees today for about the first time. I turned on manual heat from the infotainment system and hey presto, came back to a nice warm car and a slight smell / visible exhaust vapour from the front left wheel so, all seems to be working!

My remote isn't working though and immediately flashes red when I press on. Has anyone got the remote learn procedure so I can try and re-learn it to the car? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

The remote paring procedure is in the Wiki workshop manual under

Remote paring.

Do all late L322 have the FBH? I had a '55 reg TD6 with it but unsure if my new ('11) L322 will when it arrives.

Thanks, found it.

All late L322 diesels have the FBH. The remote was optional but there's a few mod guides on here for people who have retrofitted the remote or come up with a DIY solution.

Some people (like my previous owner) have the fuel pump bridged so the FBH can't run because the part can be quite expensive when it fails. I got genuine Land Rover stock from a dealer having a clear out and got it for £40 but, in truth it's just a generic webasto pump so, if you do need to replace one, they're readily available on ebay new for around £50-60. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I have now tried the remote learn procedure umpteen times and all I get is the flashing red light on the remote.

Everything seems where it's supposed to be:

Fob Battery? Mine did this when the battery level went to 2.8V - it needs a full 3.0

My experience, a bit of time ago, was the pairing process didn’t work. IIRC the procedure I used was to disconnect the receiver unit beside the rear fuse panel from power. Then , holding the remote button depressed I reconnected the receiver unit to power.

As I said, it was quite some time ago so I may not have remembered the detail but I do know just pulling the fuse didn’t work for some reason

You can’t lose by trying it. Good luck Thumbs Up John

I have one on order. Good job of Webasto to go and use batteries which aren't and have never been readily available!

I did try removing the plug from the Telestart unit but not plugging back in whilst holding the button. Will try that tomorrow. Otherwise next step is to wait for the battery to arrive. If the telestart unit has failed, I may do a DIY job because I can link a WiFi switch to Alexa... who I can then shout at 5 times until she listens to me to warm up the car. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
