Getting the driveshaft out of hub?

Having a nightmare with this and would welcome advice!
Managed to get the nut off easily with an air impact wrench.
Waiting for decent ball joint splitter to arrive so I can disconnet the lower arms and steering tie rod.

What's the best way of getting the splined end out?
I've been hammering the flip out of it and I can't see it moving at all.
I'm thinking that a hydraulic puller might be best. Anyone used something like this?

I used a manual version of that, took a bit of effort but it did come out, getting it back in again was entertaining though.

What's the reason you're removing the hub from the car?

The first time I removed mine I took the hub and driveshaft out as a complete assembly. It's heavy but doable.

The shafts are known for seizing in the hubs and Land Rover make a tool to remove them.

A pusher type tool is whats needed. Needs to be suitably large to fit. I got one off ebay but had to grind bits off it to make it fit. Worked fine.

A trick I learned here for reassembly is to drill and m8 tap the driveshaft end. You can then lever or slide hammer the shaft back through. It does pull through relatively easily but there's little or no chance of being able to just push it through no matter how clean and lubed it is. It's not an interference fit but it's very snug, and you don't want to be damaging the cv joint or boot, or you get to do it all again! Don't ask....

Yes you'll need a pushing tool like the one on eBay... Similar to the JLR tool Thumbs Up

Thanks - I’ve got an M8 tap somewhere so will do that!

We tried the smaller hydraulic ones, but it struggled.
We've got one of these now, designed to be used with an impact gun. Never been defeated, but probably a little expensive for a 1 off use...

If you've got a big SDS drill they work wonders in Impact mode

I bought the 10t hydraulic version like the one in your link, with that it's a breeze to get the shaft out 👍
