Left boot strap failed... what a surprise..!!
Ordered a new pair from Robin at Duckworths, £35 the pair which I didn't think was too bad...
covered them in Dinitrol ML before fitting
Should last a bit longer that the originals...
This fatty is less than a year older that fatty S/C I had... it's boot straps looked original, had some minor rust but still swung and worked fine, this one and they are both scaly rust....
but fatty S/C had very rusty bolts holding the boot locks on...

This fatty and they are all fine with no rust...
Mind you I think I have some stainless ones left so will probably change them....
Weird how they can be so similar, yet so different... 
Finally got my private plate on it so it's feeling more like mine now.....
It had a cherished number on it when I bought it so took a while. Had to wait to get the V5 back, remove the plate, then wait again for the V5 so I could put my number on it... Daughter is having the number that was on it... Pete
