Trailer Plug wiring

Morning all,

Sorry for so many posts lately - getting a few things sorted with the new car.

I have a small trailer that I used on my previous Range Rover which had a 7 pin connector. The new One however has more 'holes' to fill Shocked

I assume its thw newer Euro style 13 pin one I need now - I clearly won't have 13 wires to connect up but am I to assume the colour coding is the same and I just miss out the ones I dont have..??

Seems the replacement updated plug is only about £8 from our favourite rain forest shop....

Alternatively.... have folks just used an adaptor like this...?

Thanks Ash

I use the adapter in the link, works fine for occasional use.

Coincidentally, I picked up one of the adapters yesterday from ECP.

Good quality, made by Maypole and only £3.77. I tried it out on the L405 yesterday and it fits fine.

Adaptor here too, works fine, much easier than rewiring. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Another vote for the adaptor - bought mine from the shop here although that appears to no longer have any stock of anything.

Word of warning though - you will of course need to remember to remove it before trying to retract the tow bar. Mike - MPx

Wiring colours should match up just print off the two wiring diagrams and check your existing 7 pin plug colours match. Some trailers use two wiring looms that join in the plug which makes it a little bit harder. I have just rewired the plug on a new (to me) car transporter trailer to avoid having to use an adaptor.

I have an adaptor that I can use but find it isn’t as secure as a 13 pin plug that you screw to lock on. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23
