Is your L322 MY 2004 or 2005? The later 2004 were MY 2005 which has the touch screen and uses a later (2005-2009) NavTool.

uncertain which MY but it does have touch screen. Guess I can email them with VIN to confirm.
This is on the list, but not in the top three yet. Smile

waiting for module to bypass steering lock issue.
waiting for better weather to attack blowing noises (exhaust manifold)
need brave pill to straighten steering wheel ( split shaft and move one single spline clockwise)

The 10th character in the 17-character VIN represents the vehicle model-year. This standard applies to vehicles built in or after 1981.

Thinking about ordering this for my 2012 but want to do a sanity check first.
Does the Navtool unit work entirely with the touchscreen controls and does it retain the steering wheel controls too?

In terms of audio output I am hearing mixed signals (no pun intended) that the sound quality via Bluetooth for music is significantly better than via AUX, can anyone confirm that?

Thanks @TYMH I’m currently comparing all the CarPlay upgrade options; it seems this one may be easiest to install!

What did you discover to be the best option in your comparison?

Hi,

I am looking for a CarPlay unit for my 2011 L322. I am also interested in the answers to the questions from "th3chainrule" Smile

I Just ordered Navtool for my 2012 Westminster…

Will report back on here at to ease of fitting, sound end touchscreen etc.

Have fitted the Unique auto (IDCORE) to a bMW Z4 already so can do direct comparison.

Further NavTool confusion, sorry if this is obvious. I feel like I've read everything on this on the forum, indeed the internet on this and I'm still unclear about AUX and Wireless Android Auto.

My MY2006 did not have aux, but I've retrofitted (hardwired into radio unit) it and enabled AUX in CCF, all working fine.

NavTool manual for 2005-2009 specifies a cable running from the unit into AUX. However,
The photo in TorontoDee's installation above shows a deadhead plug in the AUX, presumably just to give it resistance.

It's unclear to me if I will have to physically connect NavTool into my AUX

My theory is that Navtool v6 sold with wireless carplay/android Auto does require a deadhead plug into the AUX socket, just so that there's resistance in the port, but it doesn't need a wire from Navtool to AUX

If that's true, then I want to be very sure the thing I buy is a Navtool is v6. On the website, I can only choose "Item Number: NAVSGF4.0-" which suggests its Navtool v4. That's true for any Range Rover product of theirs that I choose.

So, full working theory is that:

    1) Navtool purchased from their site with the "free" wireless car play/android auto upgrade is definitely v6 and the site is just outdated
    2) a NavTool v6 will work in my MY 06 L322
3)in my MY 06 L322 Navtool v6 does not need a cable running from AUX to Navtool unit if using wireless car play/android auto. It does require something to be plugged in to the AUX port, but that thing can just be a deadhead socket

How far off base am I?

I also want to know

I have a half installed Navtool (only missing the connection to AUX) and the sound is not working, everything else is.

I dont have a dead plug in the aux but am wondering as it would save taking the car apart. 2008 HSE B. Grey

Yes - I have the wireless Navtool. Works great (although sometimes it will drop, Ill see the black screen with Android and CarPlay for about 10 secs and then it comes back - happens about once a week so not bothered)

I have been dreading taking the rear seats out to push the cable through from the rear to the front and this would be a time saver.

For now I continue to use the Range Rover bluetooth for my phone calls - so really only missing WAZE voices and SPOTIFY 2008 HSE B. Grey

I've fitted mine to 2012 Westminster.

Can't give a huge review yet as alternator failed so only really been able to test it.

First impressions are that sound isn't great and screen was dim even turned up to highest on navtool and on RR screen. Had to fit the AUX blank to get audio working.

Aside from that not as east as Navtool make out on this model but easier than the IDcore one.

Full post with pictures I took coming soon.

I found the following made _all_ the difference for the sound on my 2012 Westminster

- lower treble all the way on original head unit
- raise Bass +1 on original head unit
- raise sub +1 (or +2) on original head unit
- ensure NAVTOOL EQ setting is Flat
- lower master volume output on Navtool by about a third. 2012 Supercharged L322
