Diesel costs in France currently

It seems the cost of diesel is dropping in France. I arrived here in St Antoine de Breuil ten days ago and the local Leclercq was at €1.99. It’s dropped since I’ve been here from that to €1.84 and now €1.77. That’s about £1.50 ish/ltr. I’ve heard that Tesco and Asda are having a price war on fuel and it’s dropped about 7p/ltr. Still some way to go yet.

€1.77 actually works out to £1.58/ltr at €1.12 to the £ which was the rate I got from Tesco.
Much better than us it seems. I think Venezuela have the cheapest fuel but an unbearable and oppressive government.
Hang on a minute!!!

The better way to put that across would have been to say there’s a better exchange rate from xxxxxxxxx and that would work out to £x.xx/ltr.
Then we’d all have been less “raped”.

Dealt with FX all my working life .
Hung onto my usd and euro business accounts for ten years as my rate was bank plus 0.003 .

Last year I used Wise to credit mt French account fantastic X rate. Recommend. App based . You can get a card with it ( still on my to do list) . Dumped my FX bizniz accounts.

Give it a whirl Good luck. Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

1.77 is very good - still in the mid 1.80's near me but does seem to be progressively reducing (from over 2 EUR). So much so that I'm actually holding off filling the car up until it really needs it Laughing

Hovering at around 1.77 near me (Mont Blanc area) at the local supermarket. This site is quite useful for comparisons:

Philip , agreed

just shows how sharp wise is. The cross rate is 1.19, so 1.1975 as a rate is excellent.

Ps

O and the French have it in mind to bring petrol down to 1.50 in the autumn by squeezing the petrol companies ( they might own one) & throwing more money at it.

Just like electricity around 0.15./0.16per kWh. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I agree about Wise - they give good exchange rates. I've been using them for many years now, since the days they started as TransferWise. I have accounts in £££ and €€€ and a debit card with them - use the card abroad in foreign currency!
My preferred fuel prices site is the French Government site https://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/. It's generally accurate and up-to-date, but - if you don't speaka da lingo - I'm afraid it's in Frainschese. Pretty self-evident, though.
It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 5 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.
