Are any locking wheel nuts OK?

So got nice new shiny black wheels and tyres and about to swap to black nuts now they've arrived but what about my locking wheel nuts. Could just put my current OE ones on but consensus on here seems to be to bin them. Had a bit of a google and came up with Evo 5 aka Evo mk5 as an alternative to OE ones. But are they still liable to fail and cause me grief in the future? Chris

I removed my locking nuts as soon as I got the car. I don't think people tend to steal wheels any more. Obviously there are exceptions. Lets face it, with the right kit, it's quicker to steal the whole vehicle than just the wheels. Kev

Agreed. I can’t think of a case where I have had wheels stolen from a car reported to me in the last 15yrs. More often the whole car goes. V8 or else ...

I've binned mine, they can really rust up and be a huge pain to remove.

Not seen any cars up on bricks for a long time. Seems to be whole car or cat theft nowadays. Tom

I have mcgard locking wheel nuts (bought from site sponsor Advanced Factors) - had them approx 3yrs and they’re brilliant quality. Not corroded and still solid.
