Same here.
If it isn't obvious, it should be noted that this flappy mirror problem can be fixed without removing the mirrors from the car.
Remove that plastic cover from the underside of the mirror and this will give access to those 4 screws.
They are T15 Tork.
As the original photos from this post are now gone I have added a couple of my own.

Yes any chance of more photos? The mirrors are quite different on my '08 to those above - there is a cover on the bottom though it's not immediately obvious how it's removed. Am wondering if the loose mirror problem can still be fixed without removing the door card etc?

I would try to get that underside cover off first though before venturing in anywhere else.
Probably like all things on these cars it is only after you get it off does it become obvious how it is done.
My covers have a slight indent at one end that allows a small screw driver to be used to pry and squeeze. From memory it is actually the squeezing action that really gets the thing un-hooked Rob

I went ahead and removed the door card to get the mirror off and into the workshop. The cover below the hinge is an absolute pain to get off, but eventually can be removed with a combination of brute force and leverage. I'm fairly sure it's not supposed to be removed, as doing so reveals nothing but the bottom of the hinge mechanism:

They fight all the way don't they.

So anyway the thing to note here for anyone else is that my (potential) fix is only applicable for early models (up to VIN 4A999999) and thereafter (5A000001 to 9A999999) the mirrors changed and the fix is probably more involved.

I'm ashamed to admit that before taking the whole thing to bits as noted in my previous post, I perhaps should have just retracted and extended them first.

Having now done so, all flappiness has gone.....

The reason mine were loose was a worn lug, I built it back up with epoxy and filed back to the correct size / shape.

You can see it in the center of the picture, it should be all black but it has worn quite a step. that 2-3mm there translated to about 15mm movement at the outside edge.

There is now no movement in it, my only concern is if the epoxy is upto the job, but it was all I had to hand.
