United Kingdom 2019 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

Received this message from my dealer this morning after I prompted for clarification yesterday. What to do next?

Mine's a HSE with options. Is there much difference between Meriden and Meridian 3D sound system? I'm not a big music person, mainly radio when travelling.

''We were advised yesterday that due to supply and production constraints to be able to produce vehicles they have had to replace the Meridian 3D sound system with the Meridian system.

This is an action Land Rover were hoping not to have to take and originally were hoping to avoid it on vehicles where this had been standard equipment.

Due to this action, they are compensating customers with a £500.00 inc. vat reimbursement. We can show this as a discount on your order.

We have also been advised that Land Rover are not price protecting orders due to the rising cost of production and materials, Land Rover has increased the Range Rover by £5000.00 across all models, and unfortunately this will be applied to your vehicle once built.

Due to the changes in specification your car is now due to be built on the 4th of November with delivery in December.

I understand the above is far from ideal, I apologies I don’t have better news surrounding production and pricing.

If you would like to come in and listen to the meridian sound system I can arrange that for you, as we have a New Range Rover here with the Meridian sound system in it.'' MY23 D350 HSE

£5,000 price increase and only £500 credit for removal of the decent sound system.....that's just not good enough. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Thankfully this doesn't affect me... However...

If you upgrade the sound system on a lesser model it's £4000.

As they can't supply it they'll offer you a £500 discount.

Oh, by the way, the price of the car has gone up £5000.

Wow! Shocked

It's a good job there are people who are loyal to the brand as that would be testing most peoples patience by now!

If my dealer told me this news, but then gave me a firm date (eg January) as to when I should expect the car, I think I might reluctantly accept the situation.

But if I get told this, with the same vague "we've no idea of delivery date" then I might be tempted to cancel the order. 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

I think they have me by a sensitive part of my anatomy! Either way they win. I take it and pay the extra for a reduced spec or they take delivery and sell it on at a profit.

I've written back to clarify the MY and features but expect them to confirm its still a MY22 and no additional features.

I'm also pushing them on a good valuation for my PX as I'm not prepared to proceed with a low valuation and a £5k price increase. They know I may decide to sell privately and forgo them a resale profit if they mess me around.

To be fair the guy I'm dealing with has been good throughout and I think he's embarrassed by the current situation.

I'll update once I have a response. MY23 D350 HSE

Or you take it and sell it on and you get the profit.

I'd probably want to keep it for a while but stick in an order for another one with a higher spec and swap it if the first one retains sufficient value at point of delivery and the new one retained it's higher spec. MY23 D350 HSE

The dealer has confirmed that it will be a MY23 but that the spec is the same as a MY22.

If I take some finance they have offered to keep it the rate I was offered in November 21.

The PX offer is ok but I will explore a private sale too.

I expect I will proceed and when it arrives just enjoy it Smile MY23 D350 HSE

Concerned that they are throwing these together and will not have replacement parts, but downgrade is the last straw.
Cancelled order yesterday.

P.s.- So disappointed by RR dealers and service centers. Love my two RRs but these guys are the worst!

It’s as badly managed as you’d expect, but it’s the same everywhere. I assume Bentley and Rolls Royce production just gets parts priority over other VWs and BMWs:

Yes, but at ever, JLR seem to do everything a little worse than everyone else. JLR are giving a derisory discount for the lack of a feature and it is not the customer's choice whether to accept or wait unlike other manufacturers. Added to this are the increase in prices for existing orders which makes the situation even worse.

Very good point, Martin. Much closer to the ‘true’ value of the upgrade.
