This is well documented on many forums but before I spend time and brass on the FF I have a favour to all who have the IId tool.
I just would like to know what other FF do

Could you set the RR to access height then raise to off road height and time it, look at what reservoir psi is before, during and when compressor stopped, also temp.

I'm not convinced the compressor is yet as this is what I get, is it normal or to long to raise?

From access height to off road height timed as 1 min 26 seconds ( steady light from access to off road ), reservoir was at 188psi at the start of raising, compressor filling reservoir at 152 when rising the RR up. Compressor stops at 189/188psi and temp at 78deg c

So I have faults codes 57 in the lcm and code 74 in the eas, happened either once a week or 2 in a day, very intermittent fault easy enough to reset, but every time when switching off the RR the message shows up, next time I start the RR up its gone!

I have also bypassed the PRV so I know its not that.

I have checked for leaks and connector, all seem good, I more convinced its the pressure switch on the back of reservoir but I could be wrong

If she don't get fixed soon it'll go as Mrs Dragon don't like the FF and wanted a land Cruiser, we had one for towing and it NEVER gave a problem, sold her with 225000 ish miles! If it dont work.......burn it!

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

did mine earlier and from access to standard and then standard to off road was about 18 seconds...

but i'm sure i have a different compressor with a larger tank under the off side of the FF.. ... - .- -.

Cheers Stan, 18 seconds is quick, if other FF's are that quick from access to off road height, i'd be looking to rebuild compressor. If it dont work.......burn it!

surprised me as well but mines a 2009my so some obvious improvements have been made to the 'air' bits. ... - .- -.

what is the obvious differences to the compressor? bigger piston size/ chamber?

Is there anyone with a pre face life who could try this out.
If both of yours Stan and Paul are under the 30 sec mark looks as if it is the compressor at fault on mine. If it dont work.......burn it!

mine is defo different to the td6 compressor..craig was going to replace my exhaust filter [see pic] but found mine is twice the bore size of the standard filter...also my td6 had a small tank underneath the off side rear where as the one a have now is a larger [3 times the size?] full length jobby..
it does sound like yours could do with a refurb if its taking that long to blow up..

Can't test mine at the moment as I have it locked out in Motorway mode and doing a how long will it last before I get the AIR SUSP INACTIVE fault Been 2 days / 90 miles so far on six starts. (I have the same issue as Welsh Dragon)

But from experience between 1 and 2 minutes, even after fitting Jockstrap (sorry) Bagpipe Andy's ring in my pump

When are you fitting the new sensor and telling me you have fixed it MIke? .

I had a quick look at it yesterday, it looks a pig of a job to get to, easy enough to change but that tank cover needs to come off first, or at least wedge it out of the way just to get a spanner on it, so I will be waiting a clear day, not raining and attack it ...

Its going to be one or two things this problem, will keep you posted. If it dont work.......burn it!

Just did mine for you... 2002 4.4 Vogue

Started engine and compressor topped up tank straight away

Comp temp 39deg

Dropped to access, (been playing with mine and the access height is lower than stock, 425mm center of wheel to top of wheelarch, front wheel)

Comp pressure 188psi

Switched it to off road height (again been playing, mine is higher than stock at 555mm)

Comp psi dropped to 143 at it's lowest but sat at 152 for most of the raising

Took 1.51 min to raise to offroad

Comp temp peaked at 92deg, dropped to 60deg after about 3mins.

total height raised 135mm, just over 5inches

My pump has had a recent new piston ring and the dryer has been baked, it sits where the tow bar cubby hole is as mines on LPG...

Temp on compressor and when filling up when raising to off road hight is about same as mine, time will be different as yours is lower and higher, but not by much though.

Im going to change the pressure switch first to eleminate that and see what that brings up, or not as the case may be. If it dont work.......burn it!

Just an up date on this, I changed the pressure switch and cleared the eas faults only (21st August), the message came back24 hours later!. So I cleared ALL messages on the FF ecu's and so far for the last week an a bit she has behaved so far

One thing to check before changing the switch is how tight it is fitted to the reservoir and if there is any corrosion/ pitting in the recess as that might be a place for leaks in the system, mine was in all honesty finger tight on

Just swapped out my pressure switch

45 minutes job.

Tip: undoing all the tank cover bolts along the sill, facing forwards, and beside the exhaust will allow the tank cover to drop sufficiently to access the switch, not need to undo the two at the back under the rear subframe.

Pressure switch is 24mm a bit tight in situ to get a socket on it, but my big adjustable worked OK. Seems the switch tightens up flush to its inner seat, so only needs to be spanner "hand tight".

Given the pressure the air tank stores air at I would have expected some sort of thread sealant on the threads of the pressure switch, be it goo or ptfe tape.
The threads can't be air-tight at those sort of pressures unless of course there is a sealing ring on the switch.
Just an observation.
