What a silly place to put a reversing camera

Hello there.
Simple question as LR has denied camera "line of sight" to the tow bar.
Which makes it bit of a challenge when hooking up a very heavy trailer or caravan.
Has anyone relocated the tail gate camera to the number plate light area or purchased a number plate light/camera combo that will fit? (looks like a R51 Pathfinder camera/light might do the trick).
I'm looking at doing this mod, as the camera is pretty useless where it currently resides.
Also can someone tell me if the 2012 L322 camera format is PAL, NTSC or SECAM?
Thank you

I agree. There is a retrofit camera available which fits in the upper tailgate, replacing the rubber button to open it with a new one which incorporates a camera. It can be hooked up to the existing camera wiring.

I have considered doing this mod myself:

There's also a magnetic bluetooth/WiFi camera designed for caravans. This can be quite useful, as it can be attached to the back of the trailer for reversing when you're hitched up. It's about £130 I think.

The system is set up as PAL however, in the secret menu on the head unit, you can change from PAL to NTSC. Stick with PAL though. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I mounted a camera next to the upper tailgate release switch. The camera is at an angle (45 deg?) to its flat base that attaches using 2 very small screws into the soft plastic beside the release switch. I built a switch box that uses relays to switch between the surround camera input or the tow-ball camera or the caravan's rear camera using a 3-posn rocker switch mounted in the top of 1 side of the cup-holders that is covered by the cup-holder cover when closed. The cameras need to be PAL.

Do you have a link to any by any chance please ?

I agree about sticking to PAL - there are good reasons why people in the TV industry refer to NTSC as "Not The Same Colour".

Looks like it's come down in price.

Specifically designed for caravans, campers and trailers etc and can be hookuped up to the Falcon campervan navigation systems or via the app.

Might be worth finding something for £1 to get 15% off Laughing 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Perhaps too late:

I’m considering one of these, a bit pricey but they are a direct physical replacement and have night vision as an upgrade.

Vehicles with surround cameras don't use the same reversing camera as non-surround systems.
