New Owner of a 187k Mile L405

Hi all,

Well I made the upgrade from my l322 Westminster and purchased a 64 plate L405 in Vogue spec. Some of you may have seen it on auto trader as it’s been on there for a while with 187k miles! I was very cautious when viewing and found a lot of positive information about it. It was a 1 owner from new averaging about 28k miles a year and was owned by a famous banking mogul that lives in Chelsea. Mechanically very sound and averaged about 42mpg on the way home on the trip computer so the engine seems to be in good state.

It’s going in for a full service and MOT and fingers crossed should be good however expecting a few bills in the first year of ownership at least.

Now I know a fair bit about the l322 but not so much about the l405. My main questions are:

Is there a way of disabling the keyless entry?
Are the electronic park brakes prone to failure like the l322? I simply didn’t use it because of how weak they were
Is there anything I should know about in particular? I know the tdv6 can have problems but seems to be a luck of the draw thing

Thanks

You can do it with your remote. There are a few YouTube videos showing you the sequence. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black
2018 D300 SE Velar in champagne
Spiffing wheel centre caps available

It’s the tdv6. Feels a heck of a lot more lighter than the v8 lump in my l322

Not sure if it can be exempt from the ulez charge it has the stop start mechanism

Welcome to another TDV6 in the FFRR clan Thumbs Up

Does it have a DEF filler cap on the inner nearside front wing?
If so, it should be ULEZ compliant, but I haven’t a clue when that started, I thought it wasn’t until 2016?

Stan will know Bow down Bow down Bow down

Enjoy! Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

TDV6 with 187k!

It proves not all these engines have issues, which is good news

Don’t think it’s ULEZ compliant then. Ah well I don’t really go into London via car.

I know 187k seems very high for an engine that apparently can die any moment. I think it’s just the fact some of the engines just work smoothly will all the components and others not so much.

It’s going in for a full service on Saturday, today it just gave me a yellow warning for oil level. Hopefully the service will put that right.

I was wondering if your TDV6 is still going strong with that mileage on?

It would be interesting to have any updates on what issue crop up at that mileage

Hi, just under 190k miles now and not much has changed since I first picked it up. Got a full service done and it runs perfectly

The only “problem” is I have no signal on all DAB channels so I suspect it needs a new module. Other than that it’s pretty perfect. Sometimes I wonder if I should upgrade to the v8 but to be honest I’m not sure if I need to. I’m doing a couple trips to Europe in the summer so that will decide if I “need” an upgrade

Fine car and a fine, perfectly reliable engine. Hope it’s a good car for you.

I wonder if it is still the original engine?

I suppose it could have been re built a number of times by previous owners and we would not know.

It would be nice to think it was all totally original to prove not all of them go bang.
