if I remember correctly, it is held by a clip of sorts, you need to slide it sideways, if you lift it from one edge a peek underneath, you'll see the metal clip clasping onto a hook of metal.. pretty easy.

Got it off. Had to put the seat down, unplug it from the back after taking off the spring flap, and then take that black plastic piece off. The unplugging process happened from the trunk. Then I put the seat back up and got the lid off the rest of the way.

So I assume I have to cut the middle fin on each hinge to get the zip tie through? Use a dremel to slice that?

I'm having a hard time seeing how mine can be fixed due to the way the left side plastic broke off.

Yep exactly that, drill down in the middle of the 4 hinges, through the bottom, until you can get a zip tie though it and wrapped around the silver cylindrical hinge part.

With regard to the bit that has snapped off, you don't really need it, as long as the zip tie is tight around the silver hinge, but for good measure and because it has a shaped portion to it that hugs the silver hinge, I used the bits that had broken off and wrapped the zip tie around the whole lot, then reinforced with some strong glue, your nearly there Smile

for reference, look at CerebralThunders pictures, they are great, as I didn't really record my attempt as I wasn't sure it was going to work, but then it did lol.

Yeah my left hinge broke out of the bottom black base and stuck to the top lid. This is different than your case and CerebralThunder where your lid with the leather broke clean off leaving the hinges in the black base.

I ended up bending over and paying the $600 out the door for LR123411. Which is cheaper than what my local dealership wanted, $1000 out the door.
