We just got rid of mrs rdr’s ID3 run about. it didn’t have physical controls and it was the most annoying thing in a car I have ever experienced. Driving it and having to page through options to adjust simple things was infuriating. Would I take the removal of physical controls to get a few more horses? I don’t think I could! MY23 PHEV HSE

I wonder what they have done to the rear HVAC controls. Will they have the same as now or will all versions get the screen in the armrest like on ABs? If they keep the rotary controls in the back when they are not in the front that is really lame.

Is the panel in the front covering a new storage area or is it just a blanking plate over the missing HVAC controls? If there is nothing behind that plate it’s an unbelievably half arsed job.

To be fair, there’s not much chance it will be as awful as the VW system.

Would be good if that panel spins like the disco 5 console did.

Also the gear shift trim looks a bit out of place now, a single swoop of wood might look cool and give it a a luxury boat vibe. MY23 PHEV HSE

This is going to be redesigned again in the next couple of model years for sure, as it has a look about it that says it’s been done as a cheap quick fix.

And the all Electric available to order in the autumn this year.

I spotted a news article which suggested JLR will of caught up on all of their orders by August time. Will post if I can find it again. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

They will have caught up on all the backlogged orders because they are about to tell all customers with orders they will need to place new orders due to my24 😬 seriously though when I enquired recently I was warned a new phev order could be over 12months for delivery. MY23 PHEV HSE

Get with the tech.

You always have the PIVI PRO screen on, so the only thing changing is that you press the left or right side fixed temperature buttons that seem to be there permanently, like your Windows or Mac dock that is always at the bottom of your screen rather than a dial below it, big deal. The iPad was introduced over 13 years ago and EVERYTHING has changed since then from a User Interface perspective.

It does not look like there are multiple keys to be pressed. And seriously, how often do you really change the temperature?

I will ask my built slot to be moved from MY23 to MY24 for sure ! RR's that are part of my car timeline since I bought my first RR Classic in 1999:

Personally I disagree I’m a total geek and work with tech but in a car you can’t beat having proper buttons you can grab/feel without glancing at a screen. Even with haptic it’s difficult to develop muscle memory to land a finger on a button on a smooth screen you inevitably have to eyeball it. I change settings all the time. MY23 PHEV HSE

A nice touch would be to make it the same as the Bentley GT rotating panel

This has nothing to do with tech, just cost cutting, which is shameful on a car in this price range.

And your comparison to a computer dock doesn't make sense. Even computer manufacturers realize that physical volume buttons are easier to use than virtual ones.

If you need to change the A/C settings on your car while you're driving, it's a million times easier to feel where the knob is vs. trying to touch a tiny piece of screen in the hope that it's the right one, haptic feedback or not.

Obviously, some people will love this, while others will hate it, but it seems to me like a beginner's mistake from a U//X point of view and I wouldn't be surprised if JLR walked it back in a revision or two, after enough people complain.

Ha Laughing The idea that JLR give a fig what customers think.
This is a stepping stone to everything being voice operated.
Instead of Hey Siri you will say Hey Fatty, just like talking to SWMBO. letters not necessarily in the right order
