The Collective Word for a Full Fat?

So here's a thing. I advertise some parts as suitable for "Vogue, Sport, Evoque & Velar", as to me, the term "Vogue" tends to be common usage collectively for P38, L322, L405 and L460. In the same way, people use "hoover" for Dyson, Sebo, Shark, etc.

Anyway, on Instagram, some smart arse trundled along and made comments that Vogue is a trim level and not a range, which may technically be true.

So I asked said smart arse what term he might use to describe a P38, L322, L405 and L460 collectively, as we might describe L320, L494 and L461 as a Sport.

The best he could come up with was "Standard" which is wishy washy. We may use the term Full Fat here, but that would make little sense to anyone not a member here.

So what term would you use? There's a poll......... 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

I'd call them 'Range Rover'.

All the others are separate models with appended descriptors. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

Previous others: Honda x1, Volvo x7, Rover x6, BMW x6, Ford x1, Mercedes x2, Skoda x3, VW x2, Renault x2, Citroen x1, Mazda x3, Nissan x1, Audi x3, Kia x1, Fiat x4, Subaru x3, Austin x2, Triumph x2, Jeep x2, Hyundai x2, Lexus x1, Mitsubishi x1, Saab x2... and some others I've forgotten!

Hi, I'd say Range Rover as well.

You can drill down to the model in the description, besides most of us know what you mean just by the year.

Plenty seem to use Vogue interchangeably with a full fat Range Rover to differentiate from Sport, Evoque etc.

Symptomatic of Land Rover splashing Range Rover across the wider range Rolling Eyes

For me, Range Rover collectively means the Classic / P38 / L322 / L405 / L460. Jonathan

its always a bone of contention.

'what do you drive mate?'
'oh, a range rover'.
'what, a sport?'
'no, the range rover vogue type.'
' the big one?'
-'yes, but its not a vogue, its an autobiography' (or a westminster)

'like the Jeremy Clarkson one? -he loves range rovers...'

-insert long conversation regarding reliability, insurance, theft, maintenance etc.

I went into my local LR dealer recently. When I mentioned L405 you could see the tumbleweed move across the showroom floor. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Yes, indeed, one of my pet hates. Vogue is a trim, like L, GL or Ghia. It wasn’t me on Instagram 🤣.

Make- Land Rover
Model- Range Rover

Others…

Make- Land Rover
Model- Range Rover Sport

Make- Land Rover
Model- Range Rover Evoque

Etc….

Not sure what the collective would be other than Range Rover, but as you say, the masses seem to go with something else and sometimes you have to choose Range Rover as a make in drop downs instead of Land Rover…. So I feel your pain….

Big Range Rover, full size Range Rover? I would have thought some folk would have understood the L numbers….. but….. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Just "Range Rover" for me as well. If someone asks me which one, then depending on who is asking the response could be "The Big One" or "The Proper One" and if it's someone who is into cars, then Full Fat works.

Never Vogue as a standalone term. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Not if you own it yourself, mine was (fondly) known as "The Family Truck" in my house. Thumbs Up

It's been the 'Rangie' to me for most of my days. Even when I was a kid and a local chap ran a Classic (which was new at the time), it was still just a Rangie.

Not a term I've heard used by owners of lesser models either. Whistle The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile
