King Charles’ Audi

The final nail in Prince Charles’ reputantion’s coffin was him arriving at the hospital today in his new transport - an Audi.
As someone who is supposed to represent and promote our country around the world, this shows how little talent he has for the job. This is genuinely the final straw for me:

Perhaps he also can't get insurance for a RR.

Incidentally the Audi is a long term thing, runs on biodiesel made from Highgrove cooking oil etc. HRH The Prince of Wales was shown in an Audi too. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Considering it’s also Prince Andrew’s, Prince William’s and even was even Diana’s choice of car, I ask the following two questions:

1. What are they doing respresenting us to the world and…
2. Germany: would you take the royal family back now please?!

What are we doing paying for them? Can’t we get Audi to pay for them through their marketing budget?

Tut Tut how frightfully awful. Thud

As a side note, my daughters freely admits that her 'dream' daily drive would be a dark blue Audi RS6 with all the Darth Vader Body mods, this just confirms my suspicions that she has a dark side to her.
I have done my best to bring her up, not 'drag her up' but obviously I have failed Big Cry

@Stan - Yes I think his latest it.

@Merchy - couldn't agree more. Have had random contact with a number of the Royal Family and close staff and apart from the Queen and Princess Anne ( and Zara), They are a rum bunch! Prince Andrew is the most poisonous. A chum of mine resigned after only a year as one of his close team.

Am now a confirmed Republican after serving her majesty with pride for many years. We need to adopt the European system, and keep them as a tourist attraction.

Monarchist and Patriot here. That obvs sets my bias, but I've not yet come across a president or presidential system anywhere that looks cheaper to run or does anywhere near as good a job as our royals. For all those who want a vote on it, you won't get David Attenbrough or Mother Theresa on the list it will be a Trump/Biden LePen/Macron type choice with none of them in any way electable - but one of them will have to get in. Here there's no choice for us or them - but keep them away from any real power and the corruption is largely kept in check (as long as they are forced to throw the Andy's under a bus) - meanwhile they more than earn their keep as eye candy for the wider world (for reasons I don't understand - but then I don't get celeb culture either).

On the Audi thing its tempting to agree with the sentiment here as I'd marginally prefer the money to go to India than Germany, but of course we know nothing of the background. If LR were so well ensconced that they started charging silly money for the Royal specials it may well have been very tempting and prudent to take what may have been a freebie or two from the competition. Who really knows?

Pause to don asbestos suit... Wink Mike - MPx

I suspect that both Audi and LR make a thumping loss on supplying vehicles to the Royals, although VW will have deeper pockets to fund the product placement.
As far as money “going to India” is concerned, TATA has stood by JLR’s year on year losses and funded them like no other, while at least 6,000 skilled UK jobs depend on their continued viability. We owe them for their far sighted attitude.
It says a lot when JLR supply the vehicles for Indian government use, but we import, rather than buy from one of our flagship manufacturers.
Now that the Queen has gone, other than Princess Anne, I struggle to see the point of them now.

Really? Is this that much of an issue? Most 'VIP's' around the world are hauled about in luxury German cars. There are far greater things to worry about, or get annoyed about, across the world just now than what type of car someone is using. I love my L322, but I have another six cars and they are all Audi's. Doubtless I should face a Daly Mail firing squad. Yawn The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

The thing I find sad about the Universal Germain Luxury Car thing is that everywhere in the world as getting closer to looking the same: Starbucks, McDonalds, Coca-Cola, an Apple Store and a VolksudiMW-Benz 🙄
If Charles isn’t about promoting this country abroad, what is he there for?
