Thanks 4RRS. Where does the exposed woodruff key timing reference need to align in order to get it spot on before installation? Does the current position from my picture seem right or totally off phased?

You need the special tooling as in my picture in the rebuild thread, it fits around the collar and then locks into the mounting holes. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division. |

You mean the special tool will lock the gear pulley on a specific position where it will align the exposed woodruff key facing the taller side HPFP plunger? |

Yes exactly that, once the gear is fitted onto the pump, the tool aligns with the flats on the gear and then aligns with the mounting holes. Have a look here: -

The mechanic should have the tools for it I hope. If not, I'll have to put in an order. Thank you, I'll report back if this finally fixes my problems. |

I think your thoughts are correct and it's certainly something that needs to be rectified if the woodruff key is missing, as you say they are availabe under part No. LR022970. I know many people don't time the pump, but at the end of the day if the manual has a procedure for it then in my book it should be done.
