Hi Martin,
To replace the connectors that go down to the steps with the wiring looms you got from me really isn't a lot of work.
From memory, the passengers one is in the passengers footwell and requires minimal dismantling, the drivers side one is a touch more involved but it's not difficult and probably a quicker process then changing the plugs over.
Edit - I might have got the sides mixed up as I think the ECU on later cars is by the drivers knee rather then the passengers. Either way, swapping those short looms that go through the floor isn't difficult
