Wet headliner above A Pillar

After a couple of days of rain I have a slightly wet patch on the A pillar. Big Cry

When I pour some water down around the windscreen it seems to disappear behind the drivers edge in several places, like it is making its way inside.

Here's a picture of the wet area on the headliner and a a picture showing the areas at the edge of the windscreen that seems to let in water.

I think it's looking like it will be dry on Friday so I will be applying some sealant. However I am not sure if this is really the issue.

I have the fixed panoramic roof so don't have to worry about drains. Has anyone come across this and does it seem likely to a leaking windscreen? I guess another alternative is panoramic roof?

If it's getting wet above the level of the windscreen I'd think it was the pano roof not sealed properly...

I've had good results with this stuff before....

That’s interesting, so it’s a liquid. Is it clear?

My issues I suppose is figuring out where to pour it.

IIRC it starts white so you can see where it is, then it dries clear... Thumbs Up Pete

That's a useful document, thank you.

To start with I will pouring water on different parts of the channels and roof panel and see if any of it causes the liner to get wet.

I am going to seal the windscreen anyway as I can definitely see breaks in the seal but I am working on the assumption that the issue is most likely with the panoramic roof as the water is in the headliner. it does appear to be level with the windscreen so I might get lucky. The windscreen has definitely been replaced, as it says Pilkington and it looks like a pretty crap job from what I can see.

I also have some Captain Tolley's arriving tomorrow. I saw the demo on YouTube and it looks good.

What I am not sure about is if the leak is in the panoramic roof seals would I have to put the Captain Tolley's onto the seal in the affected areas so that it can work it's way into the cracks? This seems a little too simple.

Also, If any gets on the paintwork will it damage it or can I just wipe it off with a damp cloth?

Would taking the Roof Channel Trim Strip on the drivers side help and is there a correct technique for it. Someone told me it's easy to break the clips?

Don't just wait for there headlining to get wet. Remove as much internal trim as you can & get a torch up there, then start pouring water.

The document Kot posted says compressed air from the inside, but I'm not sure how you'd DIY that.....

The roof channel trim comes off easily enough, I used a trim tool, but something like a plastic ruler or kitchen spatula would probably be just as good. Once you can get your fingers under it, it just pops up.

4m40s into this -

With the sliding roof, the drain is under the strip that is further in than this one, but removes in the same way.

I’ve seen people using compressed air to find leaks in windscreens. They just run water over the joins from the outside and use compressed air from the inside to see if it disrupts the flow of water. I think I have to strip of some trim.

Today there was some brief but heavy rain but interestingly enough the pillar was not wet. The car was parked in the same place so I assume it could be a very small crack, different angle of rain etc. Saturday is supposed to be clear so I will hopefully get some time to remove some trim and have a better look.
