My 2003 M62 L322 has a new fault. Yippee!

I have the Air Suspension warning, but apart from that, all seems well.

The fault first tripped when going on the motorway and the car tried to get into "Motorway mode" and lower itself.

The car sits quite happily (i.e. no sagging), but it is perhaps a little uneven (it may have always been, doesn't really bother me).

Anyway, the GapIID tool has shown the fault

0x7A Reservoir Pressure rises when lifting

... which google seems to have no answers for.

If it makes any difference, i also have a 0x10 Steering angle sensor watchdog error

So anyone have any ideas?

Be nice to have a clear dash, it used to be free of any errors

Apart from that, all is well in the land of old L322s (as well as they can be!)

Have you drilled a hole in the filter on the air pump yet ? If not do it.

That style of code seems to come and go all the time. I don’t think they are actually fault codes and that may be why you’re not finding anything on Google.

What is the exact message you’re seeing on the dash? Des

The cone filter. Can I just whip that out or do I need to worry about the 100+ psi air pressure in the compressor.

The dash error is > AIR SUSP. INACTIVE < and the EAS won’t change its setting, although the light on the EAS control is illuminated and looks as it should.

Yes you can just remove the cone filter from the pump

Yeah, if you resort to drilling a hole in it, just remove it and throw it away, it basically the same thing 👍😎

IIRC this is a "hard" fault, it will not clear when you have rectified the problem.

It will need a diagnostic tool to erase...  Pete

Hmmm.

So I whipped the air compressor out and it’s a Wabco one. Unsure if that the original one or not but it’s very clean. I guess it lives in a nice clean space but it was very clean for something potentially 20 years old.

The exhaust looks to have already been removed

I cleared the codes on my GapIID but the moment I started the car, the same Air Susp Inactive came back.

Any other ideas?

I too am having a headaches worth of EAS faults at the moment on my 2003 TD6 so I feel your pain.

If you have a steering angle sensor fault, on your iiD go into ‘live values’ and make sure you’re getting a reading from the SAS, turn the wheel and see if the angle (degrees) updates.

I had a few previous EAS faults that traced back to a faulty SAS sensor, I’ve just replaced it and all the original suspension faults have gone. There are small metal contacts in the sensor that read its value, so the usual full lock left, full lock right to reset faults doesn’t work. Couple of YouTube videos explain it and how to change it, the guy is called GrooveOn I think.

Change the SAS sensor and see how you go, it’s best if you know a 3’9” midget with t-Rex arms to ask to change it, or a contortionist

SAS sensor is the same as in 5 series and X5’s I think, mine was about £65 on eBay
