Vogue SE had perforated semi-aniline leather seats, heated and cooled, whereas Vogue had Oxford leather seats, heated only. Oxford would be harder feel leather, not sure if necessarily harder wearing, but maybe the perforations required for cooling would be a negative factor as regards wear. AB had the same seats as VSE.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer CS. Helps make up my mind to stick with what the car came with and spend the money getting them re-furbed. Handily there’s an ex Gliptone specialist 8 miles up the road who restores seats for a living, so will gauge his opinion and get some prices. |

Hey Jonny, I see your OCD is still active lol. If you've got some spare time on your hands, you could always try to refurb the seats yourself. Believe it or not, it is very easy, just need patience. I did mine on my old overfinch with ivory seats which I think are the worst as cracks show more in the leather. All you need is some really good leather cleaner, leather food, correct colour leather dye and a heat gun. I think it took me a whole day to do both front seats, the end result was amazing. I think I have pictures on here somewhere before and after. A bit like yourself, I like things to be perfect and was very satisfied with myself after I did mine. |

Thanks BB - I’ve actually had a lot of success doing something similar but on a smaller scale. It’s very satisfying. You’ve got me thinking it maybe worth doing them myself.

To be honest Jonny I didn't spray mine, I left a wet cloth on them overnight to supple up the leather, gave them a damn good clean and then wet them again and used the heat gun to pull out all the creases, this works remarkably well. I bought some cheap fine artist brushes from eBay and used those to apply the dye thicker in the most worn places. I cheated and used the heat gun to dry the dye much quicker and repeated until it fully matched. Then after I just used the sponge to apply several coats of the dye to whole of the worn seat. I think I did about 5 coats, left it overnight and then gave it all a good treatment of leather food. It was still looking good a year after when I sold it. Took me most of the Saturday to do it and 2 hours in the Sunday morning start to finish. I used glipstone it's expensive but brilliant stuff. The only thing that annoyed me about it was the after smell, it's awful. It smells like diesel and took weeks for it to disappear, it then smelled like a 1970's rover P6.

As luck would have it I have some Land Rover Ivory NUG leather filler and paint lying around in the workshop. Both from Scratch Doctor. What are the odds…

In all honesty Jonny, you won't cock it up, it really is so easy. In fact, it will be even better that you have leather filler, will save you lots more time. Little tip though, if you use the filler use the finest wet and dry you can get and lightly sand over it once it's dried. You'll get a much better flatter and smoother finish and makes using the dye even easier. Shame I'm not local, I've got nothing to do for the next 6 weeks lol. |

Good tip - got all the way up to 5000 grit. As with everything, prep is the key, so I'll make sure the seats are as clean as poss before starting.

I have a 2012 L322 Vogue which has piped perforated (not outer bolsters) heated and cooled leather seats. If I understand some of the previous posts this should not be available on my car?

Maybe these could be specified on Vogue as an extra, my 2012 WM had the heated and cooled seats, it was a run-out model which I thought probably used some of the extra items that were left over at the end of the 322 run.

My 2011 vogue has the air cooled and piped seats. Whoever ordered it new must have had a fair few other options fitted from factory. If you was to look at mine you would say it was a Vogue SE. Rear entertainment, suede roof lining and leather parcel shelf. The only thing it doesn't have is radar cruise. I prefer the seats in this one compared to my old overfinch. |
