Wee Jobs

I have been busy this week, carrying out a few wee jobs on my fatty.

The last owner ( and passengers) must have been careless Censored . There were quite a lot of minor scratches on the bodywork, that I could not tolerate. Hence, I have been touching in the shallow ones with clear coat, and the deeper ones with touch-up paint. Wet sanding afterwards, to 4k grit, before polishing.

The silver trim on the bottom edge of the upper tailgate was tatty, so that had to go.

Removing the old one was straightforward.

I never thought that I would use G&T for removing it. Very Happy

A wee squirt on the trim, and some dental floss.

Once started, it was easy to apply gentle pressure, and peel it back.

Cleaning off the old double sided tape took a while, but we got there.

The new trim was fitted OK.

Next job was the trims on either side of the upper tailgate screen. They were missing when I bought the car.

I ordered them from Maltings, and they were impressively packed.

Simple enough to fit .

Last, but not least, the boot covering the lower tailgate release button had gone awol, so that was replaced.

I did remove the tailgate top trim to fit the boot securely.

Cleaning

The fatty desperately needed a clean. Like most of the UK lately, we have been having some warm days, so I was up early, and set to with the wash bucket before 6 am. Shocked

It came up well.

I had already done under the bonnet.

Needless to say, once clean, I found more wee stone chips etc., so that's ongoing. Whistle

Replaced the struts on the upper tailgate and bonnet today. What a difference. Very Happy

The new ones were Stabilus, as were the ones taken off.

If 308/11 is a date code, they are the originals.

Also removed front wiper arms, and painted them, before reinstalling.

You've been busy - looks good! What did you paint the wiper arms with? Mine are looking decidedly shabby. 2011MY 4.4TDV8 Autobiography Baltic Blue

I decided to use this,( because I had it in my shed ), and it worked out fine, IMO.

The arms were a wee bit reluctant to come off. I gave them a couple a squirts of Plusgas every day for the last five days, and ordered a wee puller which did the bizz.
