The transmission output speed sensor is connected to the electronic module of the Mechatronic unit. I wonder if it might be worth disconnecting the 16-pin plug at the back of the transmission, checking the pins all look okay (not bent, corrosion-free) and then reconnect it again? Note that only 7 of the 16 pins are used with the 8HP70. Clearly this is a bit of a long shot.

 I thought the fretting issue was on the earlier cars - mine's a 2011. When they have this problem, is it intermittent or does it just go (what I'd expect). Having spent 12 hours being rescued, the car now drives normally, which is frustrating. When the problem comes up, there's virtually no drive and a whirring / rubbing noise. Almost like the transfer box has got into neutral. | ||
