Ingenium i6 Field action

Looks like the Ingenium i6 engine also has issues, presume its the D300 & D350 range?

TOPIx has been updated today with the following new documents:
Field Actions
D016v2 - INGENIUM I6 3.0 Diesel Engine - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Assembly May Become Blocked And The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) May Illuminate On The Instrument Panel Cluster 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Surely any EGR can become blocked by the nature of what passes through it ?

Some BMW engines suffer from blocked EGRs ... my straight 6 3.0 btw engine threw an air mass error recently which on reading could be things like a blocked egr. From reading around the subject they can be sensitive to the air filter, sticking egr valves, the list goes on. That said, it cleared after being given a long decent run.

So as much as the newer EGR/DPF setups are better at managing themselves around shorter journeys / lighter loads, I do think they benefit from a long / hard run to work them through and clear things out. V8 or else ...

+1, I don’t see it as an issue as such. While there may be the odd car (of any brand) that has a real problem, I believe that the majority of DPF problems are caused people buying the wrong car. A big diesel engine doing very few miles in short trips by owners obsessed with squeezing every last yard from each gallon will have problems in any brand.

I have had issues with my D 5, Lr replaced my EGR valve but that was not the issue. in the end it turned out to be the solenoid which controls the turbo actuator. Swapped that and all has been ok ish since. I still have a slight hesitation at around 2250 rpm when accelerating hard, as though it takes a split second for the secondary turbo to kick in. No error codes showing though……. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I understood that the engines have an electric "turbo" (blower?) that operates to fill-in before the real turbo spools-up. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims

It’s nothing new…. A lot of new defender owners are already doing interim oil changes every 5000 miles. Even seen LR stating a service is separate to oil service Laughing
All new vehicles are far too complicated trying to hit emissions targets, and every manufacturer has similar issues.

yeah my oil is counting down a lot faster than my service counter. Both started at 21000, but ive done about 8000 since the last service and its telling me I need an oil change in 7000 miles... its getting done at 10,000 whatever the car tells me.

im going to order some Smith and Allen oil as they do the right JLR spec oil for the 3.0 I6 engines and its a lot cheaper than the main brand stuff. Then get my local LR indie to do a quick swap. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
