Thanks, but not that as lane departure is disabled and it occurs even when no road markings exist.

I'm hoping that it was a wheel balance issue. I removed the left wheel to fit the new spare and found a thin layer of dirt embedded with small gravel. It might be a few days before I know if the pulsing has gone. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims |

Not a left wheel balance issue as the pulsing persists with the previously unused spare wheel fitted. Next task will be to check for loose rack mounting bolts such as were reported on much earlier vehicles. I really get the feeling that the pulsing is electronic.
