Passenger door locked up

Tried the search.. but mine seems to be a remote problem.
All doors are locked. I use the remote or the central button and everything unlocks but the passenger door. I cannot use the handle to open it either.
At one point all of a sudden the remote had opened all doors.
And bingo the door handle worked as well.
Unfortunately now everything is locked again and I can't get the passenger door open..
Is that a typical door module problem?

YES it is. At least in my case. I have a 2003 TD6 and 2004 4.4 petrol. Both cars exhibited the same problem when I purchased them. You do not state what you car is so what I did may not apply if your car is later Ford electronics.

I already had BMW INPA diagnostic software from a previous BMW car and used it to connect and carry out function tests on the central locking. It provides options to lock and unlock both front doors individually - I can't remember the descriptions but it covered the problem with 'superlocking' and through a combination of selecting all the options a few times to lock and then un-lock the passenger door the problem was resolved and never came back.

Sounds too good to be true but on two different cars it worked and no need to damage the door card to do what? damage the lock mechanism ?

All I can say is the BMW INPA software is available either free or at sensible cost if you have a pre- Ford car and is extremely capable - it will not connect to all systems on the car though as the Land Rover VIN I suspect causes issues - I cannot give you any more advice on using the software as I don't have the time but good luck Current: 2003 TD6 HSE

I'm at it again as the door decided to unlock one more time.
I took of thee door panel now.
I could lock and unlock a few times
And now it's locked again.. and the thing is. Then you can't move anything by hand!
I can't even pull up the stick to open the door.
The problem is: what do I have to replace?
Everything else works as normal.
When the car is unlocked including this door I can push down the button and open it with the handle
But once it decides to stay locked. That's it

Sounds like the door module or lock mechanism is stuck in "superlock" or deadlock.

When it sticks, can you open the windows, fold and adjust mirrors etc from the drivers door panel? If so power/coms to the door control unit is likely ok and there's an issue with the lock itself or wiring leading to it. If nothing works on the door then id start by checking door fuses and wiring issues, especially in the door shut. Ive seen issues fix themselves on my l322 simply by pulling and refitting a fuse, probably tarnish on the fuse contacts.

If you have GAP or access to something that can edit the CCF you could disable superlocking until you figure it out.

Thank you. Everything else works. So no super locking.
Just the lock itself. I think I will get a used lock and see if that fixes is.

Hope it is that.

The superlock is basically a deadbolt, so a lock for the lock.

Without the superlock engaged, you'd be able to open the door using the release catch inside just as though you pressed the lock pin down and needed to open the door.

Its a great feature until it goes wrong.

Ok. But as I understand with superlock engaged the window wouldn't work either?

Not quite.

Your door module is disarming superlock as it should, so windows etc work, but the lock itself isn't physically releasing. So technically the central locking and alarm etc logically is doing what it should.

So 3 possible issues.
Defective lock (sticking motor or mechanism).
Wiring from door module to lock (or corrosion on connector pins).
Defective door module (eg dry solder joint maybe?).

My money would be on the physical lock but would be worth getting the door card off and checking voltages on the lock connector when you lock/unlock the door.

The wires for the superlock motor are the White and Blue ones on the diagram.

Lever from outside? The door handle?

If so not had that apart but I'm guessing it's a push rod from the handle down to the lock mechanism. Probably sits in a hole and has popped out.

Edit: just looked at pics online and there is a bowden cable that looks like it comes straight out the front of the handle and loops back to the lock. Has this flipped up straight and hidden itself?
