Had the same problem on my TD6. Interior fan running but FBH not igniting. Went through all the mither of having FBH removed then I took it to a Webasto repairer. He could test everything apart from the ECU within the FBH - everything working so by process of elimination it was the FBH ECU. ECU is LR specific and you can't buy them separate from FBH - only Webasto generic ones which won't interface with the LR canbus. This is why the guy couldn't test it on his rig because his software couldnt talk to FBH ECU. As previously mentioned a new FBH is £1200.

Do what I did - source a second hand one from a LR breaker - I gave £95 delivered with 90 day warranty from a place near Glastonbury then get an Indy to fit for about £100 plus some coolant. £220 ish and job's done in a couple hours without a load of mither and expense. Webasto glow pins alone are about £150 I believe - spares for them are potty money.

So, in your case anyway it was the HVAC ECU? Graham

Is there any more info on the SW update. Would it / Could it be the same SW as the TD6 variant from 2004..? Ash

I have just taken my car to the dealers for a similar problem. The fuel burning heater would make a noise for a few minutes without firing and then shutdown. Don't know the exact fault code, but I was told that the glow plug had failed to earth and as the FBH is not a servicable item it would be £1500 for a new unit.

I assume the FBH is a servicable item. . . Just not by land rover. Can someone confirm what thermotop unit is fitted to the range rover (2005) and its part number please. Preferably the land rover part number and the webasto part no.

I would guess that this is an off the shelf item and has no special land rover programming, thus I must be able to pick one up from any car?

Chris
